Publisher's summary

A dark storm is on the horizon.... Return to Christine Feehan’s “steamy and dreamy” (Publishers Weekly) world of her New York Times best-selling Carpathian novels as roiling passions collide in a perfect storm of dangerous desire that only a precious few can hope to outrun....

Awakening after all this time in a world of absolute darkness and oppressive heat, Dax wonders in how many ways the world above must have changed. But it is how he has changed that fills him with dread and loathing. Buried alive for hundreds of years in a volcano in the Carpathian Mountains, Dax fears that he has become the full-fledged abomination that every Carpathian male fears, a victim of the insidious evil that has crept relentlessly into his mind and body over the centuries.

But there are some things that never change.

His name is Mitro, the vampire Dax had hunted all these long centuries. Second in command to the prince of the Carpathian people he is the epitome of everything malevolent, and perpetrator of one of the most shocking killing sprees known to man - and beast. Even his friends and family weren’t safe from Mitro’s bloodlust. Neither was Mitro’s lifemate, Arabejila, an extraordinary woman with extraordinary gifts.

But now that Dax has re-emerged, so too has Mitro. The ultimate battle between good and evil has been re-engaged. Between Dax and Mitro, a violent game has begun - one that has marked Riley Parker, the last descendent of Arabejila, as the reward.

Another Feehan Hit!!!!

This book was well worth the wait, I believe this book is one of her best. The narrators did a wonderful job! The story is one that draws you in and keeps you wanting more and the narrators make the characters come to life. It's the perfect combination! All I can say is I love this book and I'm glad I went with my instincts, I'm glad I didn't get discouraged by bad reviews. I'm happy I took a chance and spent the credit, it was well worth it!!!!
Way to go Christine Feehan!!!!! I'll patiently wait for the next Dark Series Book.

I thought she had lost the magic!

Any additional comments?

After the last couple of books I thought the author had lost her love for this story line, but I was wrong! THis book is in the top 5 of my favorites! Strong female, no whiny male, good chemistry, good story and good character building!

Another worthy addition to the Carpathian series

I am a huge C.F. fan and have listened to most of her books available on Audible including this series which have all been brilliant from book 1 - so if you haven't listened to any others in the series then I suggest you start there and work your way up to this book otherwise you will miss so much about the Carpathian's.

Dark Storm was enjoyable, entertaining and had some really tense moments, it will have your interest from the start. I did however, find it a bit gloomy and slightly depressing, coupled with this, Riley and Dax fell in love from the very first moment they saw each other which wasn't until quite a long way into the first half therefore there was no 'drama' to their romance at all. So unfortunately, for those reasons, I would have to say that this is my least favourite out the entire series.

Worth of credit? Yes definitely, but I would just have liked a 'pinch' of something more to have been able to give it 5 stars.

An End is near

Would you listen to Dark Storm again? Why?

Yes I would listen again. I liked the new characters and direction.

What did you like best about this story?

The way she blended in some of the old characters with new ones.

Which character – as performed by Erik Bergmann and Kristine Ryan – was your favorite?

The Dragon

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When the Carpathian and Dragon realized they were not alone.

Any additional comments?

I liked this book because it was not the same old boy meets girl type as some of the others. I mean he found his mate but this was like a stumble in the dark type of thing.

Love this series with all of its nuances

The Dark series is one of my favorites. Christine Feehan has created a vast and wondrous world with the ancient Carpathians aligned with modern-day life-mates and allies.

Dark Storm brings us two extremely ancient Carpathians; one turned vampire and the other a warrior honed to combat the evil of the first. Aided by a decedent of a powerful bloodline. The new lovers and life-mates, must battle the evil that has been chained for thousands of years and suddenly released on an unsuspecting world.

Thank you Christine, for your beautiful description of the dragon. So reminiscent of the Dragons of Pern series by the late Anna McCaffrey.

AND SHE IS BACK

Would you consider the audio edition of Dark Storm to be better than the print version?

I like Dark Storm better because it helps me to visualize the characters. The little bit that it adds really appeals to me

What did you like best about this story?

I like the fact that there were others from previous stories in this one. I like the fact that we learned more about gary. He is such an interesting character. Plus it is good to know more about Juliette's family. I hate to think we never got to see what happens to characters when we move to another story

Which scene was your favorite?

my favorite scene was the conversion. This is always my favorite scene. I like the fact that the women have to go through pain. it is almost like child birth. The pain is needed to be come something new just as giving birth brings someone new to the world

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed a lot. To me this is one of the best books so far.

Wonderful!

Would you listen to Dark Storm again? Why?

I would listen to the book again because I enjoyed the narration, the characters and the story.

What about Erik Bergmann and Kristine Ryan ’s performance did you like?

The smooth timber of their voices, the accents, I just loved everything about how this book was narrated.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

The Dragon Who Loved Me

Any additional comments?

It has been a while so I re-listened to the first 22 books in the Dark Hunter series to become familiar with all the characters. After listening to all of them non stop, I realized the stories were so similar in the way they flowed. This book seemed to be different from the first 22 books in the series. The first 22 books were boy meets life mate, boy converts life mate and then boy fights battle. This story seemed to evolve with time. There was a lot of substance to the story and the way the story flowed was a nice change to the previous books.
