Publisher's summary

War has arrived to Zecia.

Zac returns from the Perennial Vastness, finding Earth already embroiled in war. The Kan'Tanu Cult pouring into the sector, determined to make it theirs. The System is fanning the flames with treasures and opportunities, using the conflict to choose candidates for its trial.

A strong arm and a sharp axe isn't enough to keep Earth safe. Zac has to secure the resources and alliances necessary for his empire, all while dealing with the fallout of Leandra's schemes.

But who can he trust? The appearance of the Ultom Courts has set the Multiverse astir. Powerful outsiders are flocking to Zecia in search of fortune, where the local Sealbearers are prey. One wrong move and it's over.

more the same

overall, a good book. same issues as previous books. very repetitive and predictable. author never lets an opportunity to use 20 words when 10 would do. overall this story itself is languishing and barely moving. The book is saved by interesting characters and an interesting world. story could have run its course in about a third of the book.

I really enjoyed learning about the development of all the Zac teams.

I wished there were more Ogras! I like how Zac helped him find his path, but I also enjoy Ogra's sense of humor! That was the only thing missing for me, but overall a fantastic book! I am looking forward to the next one.

Ah, yes, this is litrpg.

I can't quite tell if it's fair to put it at 4 stars instead of 5 because it was a great addition as always but not much happened that deeply affected the course of the story. Zach was mostly just coasting along and taking things as they come with this one, until about the final 9 hours. I feel like I was watching a show and the final episode was only able to get halfway through. Also at the war part in the end, I'm pretty sure he just says Go! or Go. like 4 times whenever he has to command his army, I thought it was kind of funny. Sorry if this seems negative, it's just hard to say much, if you're this far into the series you're either teetering on the edge of dropping it, and this is probably the time to do so before getting sucked back in, or it's just more of what we all expect and love. For me it's exactly what I'd expect from DoTF.

Jump around whiplash

Is it just me or is there a lot more jumping around perspective wise in this book? It was kinda irritating to follow. No warning just off to the next perspective of some random person.

This edition is a filler, but a needed one, and still pretty good.

This book continues the story of Zachary Atwood. It's a good book, but people used to the series will likely feel like it's mostly filler. He does a bunch of 'stuff', but never gets to the big bad event that he usually gets to in most of the books in this series. I will DEFINITELY keep going with this, but I feel like this one should have gone about twice a long so it could get into the actual events of the next part of the saga, Ultum. I do REALLY REALLY appreciate that the author sticks to building an engaging story while avoiding the all to typical route of injecting tons of SJW woke crap into it. He just writes a good story that people want to listen to/read without focusing on anything else. Great work, keep it up.
