Story
From Genesis to Revelation, the providence of God directs the entire course of redemptive history. Providence is “God’s purposeful sovereignty”. Its extent reaches down to the flight of electrons, up to the movements of galaxies, and into the heart of man. Its nature is wise and just and good. And its goal is the Christ-exalting glorification of God through the gladness of a redeemed people in a new world.

Story
A lifelong pursuit of knowing God should embody the Christian's existence. According to eminent theologian J.I. Packer, however, Christians have become enchanted by modern skepticism and have joined the "gigantic conspiracy of misdirection" by failing to put first things first. Knowing God aims to redirect our attention to the simple, deep truth that to know God is to love His Word.

In his latest book, Come, Lord Jesus, John Piper addresses all these issues, but stresses that those who love the second coming of Christ will receive a crown of righteousness (2 Timothy 4:6–8). Piper examines key biblical texts around the second coming while encouraging listeners toward a Spirit-awakened affection for Jesus's return.

The weight of glory is a happy burden. Thus God is the happiest Being in the Universe. To know Him in His pleasures is to see Him as He is - and to have a fresh encounter with His transforming presence. If you are hungry for this deep delight, consider the gladness of His great heart. The things that make God glad are the measures of His greatness. Christ and the cross. Choosing His people and bruising His Son. Creating the world and revealing His worth. Story
What happens in the heart when it experiences real saving faith? John Piper argues that faith in Christ is not saving unless it includes an "affectional dimension of treasuring Christ." Nor is God glorified as he ought to be unless he is treasured in being trusted. Saving faith in Jesus Christ welcomes him forever as our supreme and inexhaustible pleasure. What Is Saving Faith? explains that a Savior who is treasured for his all-satisfying worth is more glorified than a Savior who is only trusted for his all-forgiving competence

There is godly pleasure in applying the faith that first saved us in everyday circumstances, defeating the unbelief and lies that Satan throws at us. Fighting those lies, and the resultant anxiety, pride, impatience, and other sinful attitudes that trip us up, with what Piper calls "the purifying power of God's truth", blesses us with peace as we see God enabling us to live by faith in his promises and his grace.

Story
The Qur'an, believed by Muslims to be the word of God, was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad 1,400 years ago. It is the supreme authority in Islam and the living source of all Islamic teaching; it is a sacred text and a book of guidance that sets out the creed, rituals, ethics, and laws of the Islamic religion. It has been one of the most influential books in the history of literature. Recognized as the greatest literary masterpiece in Arabic, it has nevertheless remained difficult to understand in its English translations.

The things that make God glad are the measures of His greatness. Christ and the cross. Choosing His people and bruising His Son. Creating the world and revealing His worth. A lifelong pursuit of knowing God should embody the Christian's existence. According to eminent theologian J.I. Knowing God aims to redirect our attention to the simple, deep truth that to know God is to love His Word.

The Christian life is a process of growing in holiness, our natural response to the good news of our redemption in Christ. This kind of growth is gradual, and obstacles are plentiful. Thankfully, we don't have to go it alone. God has given us his Spirit so that we can overcome temptation and become more and more conformed to the image of Christ. But how does the Spirit work? What is the nature of our own personal involvement in the process? And how do we know if we are making progress?

That is all the more true in our casual times.

What I learned
Two things off the top of my head:
1. Don’t do things out of “duty” but out of love(agape) for the Lord. IE, give, pray
2. Christian Hedonism is...well, I don’t want to give away ending...I’ll just say, it was better than I expected!

Amazing life-altering perspective
John Piper paints a beautiful picture in this book which depicts how the life of a Christian should be used to glorify God in all that you do by delighting in the lord. He cites many great passages of scripture and encourages the reader to challenge his assumptions and ultimately listen to God over all else.

Love Piper Love Grover Love God
This book will help you understand God in a much deeper more meaningful way. It made me love God more, opens up my bible to truths that I never saw before. Now I love John piper's stuff, all of it because he explains CS Lewis in simple terms. And who could understand Lewis without help? Lol great work just heard to decipher. Furthermore I wish every book I listen to was narrated by Grover Gardner, he has such a rich voice full of kindness and a great tone. I would pay to have Grover read all of John's books! I think this is a book every Christian needs to listen to at least once.

I am a huge Piper fan and love his writing and teaching. I recommend this book wholeheartedly. His love for God and his ability to inspire a longing for Christ is a huge blessing. I wasn't a huge fan of the voice they picked for the audiobook, though.

I fell in love with Grover Gardner through the voice of John Piper.
At first, I was distracted by how distinctive was Mr Gardner. Now I seek him out. There are beautiful moments where, I believe, the narrator’s heart hooks into the true meaning of what the author is saying. Mr Gardner must read his bible too. Mr Piper defines joy in such a way for joy to set in proper. God loves us so very much. Thank you, Mr Piper, Mr Gardner and Audible, I have enjoyed this program very much.
