About this listen

After the destruction of the planet by Nomad, the final fight for the future comes to a staggering conclusion as Earth drops toward Saturn, and Jessica Rollins must decide whether to save the ones she loves or save the human race.

Destiny is the fourth and final novel in a four-book saga that follows one family's fight to survive on a new Earth after a whole new category of disaster - all the more frightening as the science behind it was developed by a team of astrophysicists from CERN, SETI, and the Keck Observatory.

S Kaye

Finally questions answered! Very good narration, story though long was worth it at the end. I hope you enjoy this series as much as I did!

Plots Within Plots

Jessica and Giovanni continue to seek Hector, who has been taken by Mueller to the China Sanctuary. Americans stranded on the southern California coast he'd to San Diego to the Naval base for saviour. They will travel to Australia to safety on a flotilla of possibly thousands of trawlers, sailboats and the remaining US fleet. Meanwhile Saturn will pass the earth for the next disaster May 15th. The plots are convoluted. A must listen!

Excellent performance

An excellent series! Don't rush through these books. They are wonderfully crafted with intricate characters and story line(s). Unlike a lot of sci-fi, these books could be science prophecy, but that's where the fiction kicks in. Author Matthew Matter has written a several very interesting books, but in my opinion this series is the best.

Twists & Turns!

This story began with a narrow focus on a few survivors and became a big picture type tale. I could never determine who was good or bad in the story, but in the end, that isn't what the series was about at all. I am blown away and can do nothing but applaud!

I hope the series branches off into more but the end as it is, really gives great perspective while being both an ending and a beginning.

Hoping

I was hoping this book would end better. However I did not see this ending coming until the very end. I do hope another book is coming out to explain more. Explain about the other characters and who survived on earth. How they survived? etc.

Great story!!

I love the idea of the story. The constant wondering if what is going to happen next. The characters were great and the outcome at the end. Although I still have some questions about what happened to the other characters, but over all a good story.

Good story

Good story. Despite wanting to shake the main character. But hey kept you reading the book.

I'm Torn...

After finishing the fourth book in the series, I don't know whether it's good or bad!
The SF concept is great; a new twist on the 'worlds colliding' idea. The descriptions of a world quickly icing over are interesting, although I don't think any world-wide volcanism would have finished in less than several years, not several weeks.
I'm even willing to endure a lot of hand-waving regarding international cabals of billionaire preppers in their hardened underground shelters.

My issue is with the main character, Jessica. She is supposed to be a US Marine, a combat veteran with a prosthetic leg and a lot of issues with her family. The authors handled her family issues reasonably well. They did an excellent job of portraying the problems of life with (and occasionally without) a prosthesis.
But from the very beginning, Jessica's reflexes and actions when in sudden danger are not those of a fully trained US Marine, much less of a combat veteran. They are those of a civilian prima donna who happens to know how to shoot. She is indecisive at the wrong times, cannot work as part of a team, and surprisingly unfamiliar with unarmed combat.
