About this listen

Would you give up everything you’ve worked for your whole life for a chance at true love?

Ashley Tanner’s only desire after losing her father to a prescription overdose as a teenager has been to support her working-class family. Now an ambitious lawyer, she’s on the verge of achieving the coveted partnership she’s worked for her entire career. But with her goal in sight, the return of a mysterious woman from Ash’s past puts the promotion at risk and forces her to confront the sacrifices she’s made to win at all costs.

Caitlyn Brewster is a self-made woman who was born with a silver spoon in her mouth. Guarding that secret has kept her from cultivating meaningful relationships. In fact, only one woman has managed to pierce Caitlyn’s defenses. A woman who runs more cold than hot. A woman best forgotten. A woman who, when a family emergency forces Caitlyn to move back home to Boston and accept a job at her uncle’s law firm, suddenly becomes her biggest rival.

Their volatile chemistry makes them a powerhouse legal duo, but the energy crackling between them might be more than they’re willing to admit. The closer they work together, the harder it becomes to control their desires, even as they’re faced with a case with stakes that could change everything for them both.

They’re both used to doing whatever it takes to win. What happens when only one of them can be victorious in the end?

If you enjoy a sensual ice queen age-gap office romance with a touch of humor, adorable family, and the cutest puppy on the planet, don’t miss Miranda MacLeod and TB Markinson’s latest collaboration!

Stirring Attraction Makes Legal Eagles Fly

Don’t be turned off by the book cover! (I was!) There is actually a cute story behind that. Nice heat in this enemies to lovers romance set among the world of high class law firms and questionionable ethics. I found the romance was enhanced by a compelling story involving athletes and pharmaceutical companies. It was interesting to see how different characters viewed the issue, from pure profit to human loss. Depictions of family and loyalty, sacrifice and gain, rounded out a great story, providing context and meaning to the fun sexual attraction and exciting romance! I enjoyed the great narration too, featuring easily discernnable voices for all of the characters! And last but not least, I really liked that various characters have their flaws and insecurities but somehow fit perfectly, and make sense, together!

Very good book!

The plot was very well written and executed. The two main characters had chemistry up the wazoo! I liked the supporting characters as well. Especially Caitlin’s little sister Sadie and her emotional support puppy Happy!

The underhanded way male dominance in law firms was well represented.

Angela Daws as usual, did an excellent job narrating this book!

easy and enjoyable listen

this story is cute. it has some steamy moments (though i wish there were more) and the plot is interesting. i genuinely enjoyed this story. i just wish it wasn’t so short and some of the tension was drawn out between the 2 main characters.

Cute romance story with a mystery

I loved the MC character development and the secondary story. The secondary story would make a great legal fiction on its own or sequel.

Angela Dawes distinct voices for the characters made it all the more enjoyable.

Dawe is back and great as ever!

I enjoyed this one quite a bit! When I learned that the Legendary Angela Dawe had narrated this audiobook, I ordered it pronto. lol God, I missed having new stuff from her.

I love a good legal romance. And the delicious sexual tension between the rival lawyers Ashley Tanner and Caitlyn Brewster had me invested from early on. I kept saying that the hate sex between these women was going to be off the charts, but really both characters carried a spark of feeling between them throughout the story so hate might not be quite accurate. The chemistry was certainly palatable. While the social classes of the women and age gap might have worked against them, when it came down to values they were more compatible than they realized.

Recommend this second chance romance.

Excellent

Great story and…Angela Dawe is back and in full effect 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Excellent narration for this enemies to lovers book. Well developed characters with a great storyline of two lawyers with vastly different familial backgrounds.

Instant opposites attract!

This book started out very interesting with the main characters feeling instant attraction to each other when they first meet being in opposite ends when it comes to basically everything. Then we are thrown 6 years later and life brings them back at each other’s lives as rivals. The premise is really good, however I have a slight problem with the execution. Ash and Caitlin do have a lot that they need to figure out about themselves first and then them as something other than colleagues/rivals etc There are a lot of arguments and a lot of childish imo misunderstandings happening between them that are never actually resolved. Both characters are into their heads so much (which we get to witness) but they do not sit down to really talk. Also I have to say that at times their thoughts were too much of horny teens rather than mature adults. I wanted a bit more in depth conversations between them so the HEA would make a bit more sense. Their reactions were mostly over the top to the point they were both annoying. Angela did her best and the voices she chose were beautifully executed. What I missed is a deeper connection between these beautiful ladies. The supporting characters appearing were obscured at large apart from Caitlin’s sister
