Publisher's summary

A 2020 Audie winner - romance

Although beautiful young widow Phoebe, Lady Clare, has never met West Ravenel, she knows one thing for certain: He’s a mean, rotten bully. Back in boarding school, he made her late husband’s life a misery, and she’ll never forgive him for it. But when Phoebe attends a family wedding, she encounters a dashing and impossibly charming stranger who sends a fire-and-ice jolt of attraction through her. And then he introduces himself...as none other than West Ravenel.

West is a man with a tarnished past. No apologies, no excuses. However, from the moment he meets Phoebe, West is consumed by irresistible desire...not to mention the bitter awareness that a woman like her is far out of his reach. What West doesn’t bargain on is that Phoebe is no straitlaced aristocratic lady. She’s the daughter of a strong-willed wallflower who long ago eloped with Sebastian, Lord St. Vincent - the most devilishly wicked rake in England.

Before long, Phoebe sets out to seduce the man who has awakened her fiery nature and shown her unimaginable pleasure. Will their overwhelming passion be enough to overcome the obstacles of the past?

Only the devil’s daughter knows....

Romance between West Ravenel and Phoebe St Ives

Good to have an additional story that includes the characters of two past series. More of their dialog would have been welcome. The hero and heroine are lively, interesting personalities and the story was fairly tame with no kidnappings or damsels in distress- just one who wisely requests advice. The narrator was ok though it would have been better had there also been a male narrator. Also an epilogue would have been nice but hopefully we will see more of these two when other family and friends have their own stories.

Loved it!

I thought I wouldn’t love a book more after Devil in Spring but I loved West and Phoebe’s story. It was funny, sexy and all the things I love in a romance novel. My only complaint is that ended too soon.

Mary Jane Wells is an awesome narrator!

Ms Kleyoas - how about Severin’s story next? Can’t wait for the next Ravanel book. I love re-visiting Sebastian/Evie, Gabriel/Pandora, the Winterbournes.

Enjoyable listen.

From a talented author, but far from her best. Likable characters, but little plot, slow pace and very rushed ending. I was surprised when it was over!

Each volume of the Ravenel series gets better and better

I’ve enjoyed reading Lisa Kleypas’ writings over the years. With staying home to isolate from the COVID-19 epidemic, I decided to listen to the ravenel series - in order. The voices of Mary Jane Wells performance are distinct. The men in the different books have amazing accents and voices that make you just want to sink in and listen. Each story is unique and fully developed to hold interest with a satisfying ending. With each volume I have a new favorite - it was winterbourne and now it’s west ravenel. You won’t be disappointed! One more book to go.

Fabulous pairing with great humor

Weston Ravenel is a fun character as is Phoebe, the daughter of the Wallflowers, Devil in Winter and sister to the hero of Devil in Spring. The romance evolves through humor and the knowledge of farming West has acquired in order to run his brother's estate. The only problem I have with this book is the reliance on sex to tell the story a bit much. I wanted more descriptions of how the Clare farms were actually run and meeting with some of the Clare tenants. It seemed like an opportunity wasted, but I really enjoyed the book.

West Ravenel is funny and sexy

I've read numerous Lisa Kleypas novels and Weston Ravenel is my favorite male lead. I also loved Derek Craven, but West wins because he's funny! Who doesn't love a man with a sense of humor? He was great with Phoebe's sons and brought normalcy to their lives. He helped Phoebe realize the power she possessed to control her destiny. And he hit bottom twice but came back, with the help of Phoebe's father. I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook.

series with the best heroes of all of her series!

except for Sebastian in The wallflowers the heroes in this series are off the charts the best characters. the humor and drama and love friendships tender loves romance erotica. I love these male characters.! of course there are no such men in real life but it doesn't seem to matter when you're reading these books. even though you know there's no way that a real man could ever be this amazing you still love to read the story and how they love. you cannot go wrong reading any Lisa Klaypas historical romances.
