David Mike
About this listen
Sometimes you have to be locked up to find true freedom. David Mike swore allegiance to his country in 1987, only to be dishonorably discharged for desertion. One bad choice after another landed him at Fort Leavenworth, a notorious military prison in Kansas, where he starts a new life as an inmate.
Follow his journey as he claws his way toward Christ and away from the past that yearns to destroy him. Dishonor: One Soldier’s Journey from Desertion to Redemption is a vulnerable and compelling look at a life gone wrong.
With stark honesty, David gives insights into prison life and the shame that comes with living a dishonorable life. Through his raw, gritty, personal account, he pleads for you to find the same redemption he found in his life.

Story
The ancient Toltecs believed that life, as we perceive it, is a dream. We each live in our own personal dream, and these come together to form the dream of the planet, or the world in which we live. Problems arise when our perception of the dream becomes clouded with negativity, drama, and judgment (of ourselves and others), because it's in these moments of suffering that we have forgotten that we are the architects of our own reality and we have the power to change our dream if we choose.

Story
The book of Enoch was thought to be lost for over 2,000 years until, in 1773, a traveller brought three copies back from Ethiopia. Whether or not this ancient book was actually authored by Enoch, the father of Methuselah and great-grandfather of Noah, is an ongoing debate among historians and theologians. But all recognise the book of Enoch as one of the most important apocalyptic works outside of the Bible.

Story
Just before Christmas in 1843, a debt-ridden and dispirited Charles Dickens wrote a small book he hoped would keep his creditors at bay. His publisher turned it down, so Dickens used what little money he had to put out A Christmas Carol himself. He worried it might be the end of his career as a novelist. The book immediately caused a sensation. And it breathed new life into a holiday that had fallen into disfavor, undermined by lingering Puritanism and the cold modernity of the Industrial Revolution.

Unvarnished story of addiction and redemption
If you ever wondered how we bury ourselves with bad decisions, this book details how tough it is to make good decisions when life hits you hard and addiction arrives on the scene. This is also an amazing true tale of how God is always present to us and invites us in the most unusual and difficult circumstances... His love never quits, sometimes, OK most of the time, we just don't believe that. David Mike, thank you for sharing your journey, for being a great writer and inspiring myself, and no doubt, SO many others!! Highly recommend!

Crying in a South American subway cart
I listened to this book while vacationing in Brazil with my family! While commuting to and from places on the subway I would listen to this book!
I caught myself crying several times while listening! You can see God chasing after David in every chapter! No doubt David made some bad decisions in his life but that doesn’t change God’s love for him!!
And that’s the same for all of us!
This book is a such a great reminder that no matter what we have done in our lives, God is always willing to take us back into his family! It doesn’t mean our choices have earthly consequences but ultimately what matters most is that if we allow God to change our hearts, we will experience the eternal love of God!
Thank you David for writing this book!

Inspiring Story, Excellent Read and Listen
David’s story is a true example of the redemption that can be found with Christ. I thought that the narrator did an exceptional job telling David’s story. If you’re looking for hope or just looking for a great read/listen, this is the book for you.

Never give up.
David Mike shares his raw true story in Dishonor. This story takes the reader along with David through the highs and lows of his life. It provides a glimpse into a dark world often sensationalized and rarely portrayed accurately. The story shows it is less important where you start and more important how you choose to finish. It is proof of the importance of never giving up on anyone, even yourself, when bad choices and consequences catch up. Being a military veteran myself, I am glad David wrote this book to share his deeply personal journey. Dishonor shows that no matter what you have been through, what you are going through, or what you will go through - there is HOPE.

What a story! Well worth reading! It's the kind of story that you cant put down once you start listening! I couldnt finish it quick enough ... couldnt wait to hear how it turned out. And Thank God it turned out well. Many aspects of his story seemed to include a few miracles as he started to come up from his bottom. Thank you for sharing such a riveting story with us.

A brilliant story about God’s crazy love for the hopeless!
As a military chaplain, I wish for all of my Soldiers and our service-members to read this amazing life-story of a man who made mistakes while serving in the Army and, yet, whom God showed how much he was and is loved. David Mike inspires us all with a fascinating journey which culminates with the best outcome that only God can bring out.

An AMAZING story that comes from the heart.
When I first met David on line I had no idea why he would want me to read his blog.
After weeks and weeks of reading it I found myself in it! What an honor!
I then got to met David at a conference and he’s an incredible friend!
Thank you for writing your story about your life and your transformation.

You will root for David in every moment of his story
I bought this book because I have observed the author from a distance in a great group of goal chasers. He is consistently encouraging in this group I just had to see what his story was all about.
Wow! I was so caught up in the story I was disappointed to press pause after 6 hours. You will root for David in every moment of his story. You will feel each disappointment and each joy. I join him in praying you will also fully see God's love and how ginormous it is for you. Well done David Mike. We'll done.

Powerful and heartwarming true story of shame & redemption.
This is seriously an amazing powerful and heartwarming true story that everyone should read. David is very vulnerable in telling his story in hopes of reaching those that need healing and redemption. As I was listening to the audio book, my brain kicked into teacher mode and my first thought was that I would grade this as an A+ because it instantly hooks the reader's curiosity and captivates them to keep reading. David's hoice of imagery allows you to visualize and feel what he's going through. Through his choice of words, you can feel the frustration, the shame, hurt as well as sympathize with him. His story is proof that your past does not define who you are.
