Dixie the Rescue Dog Makes New Friends is a heartwarming story that creatively teaches compassion, friendship, and acceptance of all dogs, regardless of their breed, who ended up in shelters and found forever homes with loving families.
Dixie and her dog-mama's search for friends begins with walks through town, at the beach, and in the neighborhood. In the beginning, Dixie explores the world around her in search of real-life friends, but only finds squirrels, bugs, deer, and even a blue plastic horse that Dixie suspects is real!
One day, while Dixie and her dog Mama are on a long walk through the neighborhood, they meet a whole bunch of rescue dogs! Dixie is introduced to Jack, the one-eyed pitbull, Evil Evie, the temperamental Shih Tzu, Jarvis, the Mexican hairless dog, and Brinkley, the unofficial neighborhood mayor. Dixie and 12 other dogs become fast friends, and Mama and Dixie are no longer alone.
At the end of the audiobook, your child will enjoy hearing stories of how each of Dixie's new friends came to be adopted. It provides a perfect opportunity to educate children about the challenges rescued pets face and the difference love makes to both humans and animals.
