Story
Overthinking isn't a personality trait. It's the sneakiest form of fear. It steals time, creativity, and goals. It's the most expensive, least productive thing companies invest in without even knowing it. And it's an epidemic. When New York Times best-selling author Jon Acuff changed his life by transforming his overthinking, he wondered if other people might benefit from what he discovered. He commissioned a research study to ask 10,000 people if they struggle with overthinking too, and 99.5 percent said, "Yes!"

Acuff knows the reason why many writers' novels go unfinished - it's the same reason why gyms are filled in the first week of January and empty by the end of the month and why people stop learning a new language once they get past the easy parts. It's not just that people lose momentum or get distracted. People give up on projects when they fail to live up to their own high expectations and decide that if they can't do something perfectly, they won't do it at all. If you're going to finish, you have to kill perfectionism.

Publisher's summary
The get ready, get going guide to navigating career change and doing work you love!
New York Times best-selling author Jon Acuff has drawn millions of online fans who love his refreshing mix of humor, honesty, and wisdom about the world of work. Now he offers his most important audiobook yet, a guide to making big career changes - by choice or necessity - and escaping the horrible feeling of being trapped in the wrong job.
Acuff finds it amazing that people spend more than 18 years studying and preparing for college but little or no time honing their careers between graduation and retirement. He offers an empowering tool he calls the Career Savings Account, which will change the way you think about your skills, relationships, character, and work ethic. He also shows that if you're on the wrong track, you already have what you need to change it - even if your family and mortgage mean you can't simply pick up and move for a new opportunity.
Throughout the book, Acuff features inspiring and funny true stories - not merely his own but those of friends who restarted their careers after a layoff, an extended maternity leave, or simply the realization that they were suffering 50 weeks a year just to pay the bills and enjoy two weeks of vacation. Everyone can benefit from Do Over, from new graduates to 50-somethings and beyond.

It's not just that people lose momentum or get distracted. People give up on projects when they fail to live up to their own high expectations and decide that if they can't do something perfectly, they won't do it at all. If you're going to finish, you have to kill perfectionism.

This book creeps back into my life at the right times
The first time I came across this audiobook was when I was contemplating a career change (which ended up becoming a mandatory career change after being let go). The information and execution in this book gave me inspiration and a better understanding of what it would take me to do my own “Do Over”. Currently, I am doing another “Do Over” and have re-listened to the entire audiobook to help refresh my knowledge and give me that push again.
Highly recommend for those who, like me, are hitting a career ceiling or in need to change jobs/careers.

The perfect way to better yourself.
Jon Acuff is a brilliant writer and an even better narrator. Every joke is delivered perfectly and had me entertained at every turn. The content barely even applies to me as I am happy at my job, find fulfillment out of it, and have only up to go. Yet, I still am building a career savings account and listening to the great words of wisdom given by Mr. Acuff. I feel like Jon and I could be great friends just by listening to him speak, this is how I wish all these kinds of books were written. 5/5 highly recommend.

the entire series is good
Although not necessarily in full do over mode, got lots of good ideas and key points from this book. I also enjoy his humor and relatability. Great read.

Love Jon and his book.
Jon's books (and his reading of them) are always a kick, and this one is no exception. Good content and good presentation of that content.

Encouraging, Interesting and Easy Listening
I enjoyed that the author narrated his own book. I feel a story resonates better when told in first person and is the authentic person. I liked the info and would listen again. I felt the listening flowed pretty easily. I like how Jon asks you to check back in with him after you apply the principals and report your successes!
