Quiet Joy in a Trying Time
This Audio book did more than educate me in the Garden, it brought a quiet joy. I so enjoy how they incorporated nature sounds into the book reading. I was able to learn in an unpretentious way new garden ideas. It was a pleasure to listen and so wonderful in this strange time in history.

Not designed for audiobook
I love Monty Don very dearly, and his confident and soothing voice made this audiobook no trouble to listen to. However, this book is really more of a reference guide than a narrative, and if I had it in hard copy I’d be flipping back and forth through the sections to get the information I need when I need it. Monty giving precise details on how to prune various shrubs in order of their flowering habits is not the best way to learn that information. Also there are phrases and sentences repeated verbatim in different sections, which is of course no problem when you’re reading a reference book but jarring when you listen.
