Publisher's summary

I let it go - all of it. Everything I'd been saving up all my life, building and growing inside me, too much to hold in one half-human body. It pushed and fought to be free with a force that turned me into a bomb with a timer vibrating on zero. I was free. But so was everything I'd fought so hard not to be... Brothers Cal and Niko Leandros know trouble when they see it - and then proceed to wipe the floor with it. But now it seems their whole world is falling to pieces. Cal's nightmarish monster side is growing ever stronger, changing Cal physically as well as mentally. Which is exactly what Grimm - Cal's savage doppelganger - wants. And when a covert supernatural organization decides that it's time to put Cal down before he threatens pretty much everything else in existence, the brothers find themselves in a fight they actually might lose. But the dark temptations Cal has denied all his life may prove to be exactly what can save them. Even if he must fall forever...

Keep 'em coming!

Rob Thurman is the mistress of sarcastic and dark wit. The Cal Leandros series just keeps getting better and better as the characters develop and the back story is revealed. The narrator is en pointe and has me laughing at some of the most unexpected moments. I look forward to the next installment.

Lots of Action and from Robin's POV!

I am so happy that part of this story was told from Robin's POV. Being inside his head is a fun place to be.

Robin 💞 Ishiah

Any additional comments?

I'm glad we get Robin's point of view in this story and I have to admit, Robin definitely liven's up the story. And, oh how I love Ishiah and Robin together. Their relationship is so special, and it was great to get a bit of their past.

I was really over the Auphe once they were defeated the 1st time, so I couldn't see how this story would be any better, but it was!! Grim was so much worst than the Auphe and with the Kin plus the Vigilante, there was no end to the murderous betrayal and action pact entertainment.

Awesome story! I do hope there will be a book 10.

Descriptively Angsty

There's a certain charm to the gutter based witty repose the characters continue to utilize throughout these books, however by now I'm starting to grow weary of the additional internal dialogues describing how hateful someone feels, their internal turmoil at existence, and what constitutes fun. Self reflection is interesting and certainly helps develop the characters, but by now I've got a firm grasp on them and would love a bit less internal thoughts and more external interaction.

Incredible narration, truly fun story.

MacLeod Andrews is an incredible narrator. Narration can make or break an audible experience. I've heard incredibly well written books, read by their own authors who can't act worth a damn, be ruined in the process of listening to them. Heartbreaking. MacLeod Andrews breathes life into each character with a distinct and different voice. These stories are great but hearing them read by MacLeod is visceral and exciting.

Excellent listen

Finally Robin comes into his own..,

Ties up the Grim plot, brings Cal's heritage home and delves further into why Robin cares so much for Nik and Cal.

Well done!

Narrator gets better at every book; his character voices are superb.

Tiresome and boring addition to the series

I read these because they’re amusing enough for me while I do chores. I’ve been tired of the endless repetitive internal monologue (Woe! I’m a monster!) for a while, but this one is horrible and rehashes everything. If you must listen to it, skip all of the chapters with Cal, until maybe the last few. Focus on Robyn’s narrative. You could even skip until the last chapter for a summary and be done.
