Publisher's summary

The 1964 murder of a nationally known cancer researcher sets the stage for this gripping exposé of medical professionals enmeshed in covert government operations over the course of three decades. Following a trail of police records, FBI files, cancer statistics, and medical journals, this revealing book presents evidence of a web of medical secret-keeping that began with the handling of evidence in the JFK assassination and continued apace, sweeping doctors into coverups of cancer outbreaks, contaminated polio vaccine, the arrival of the AIDS virus, and biological weapon research using infected monkeys.

Say Whaaaaat?

This story which admits to have begun as An investigation of the suspected murder of Dr Mary Sherman weaves an improbable connection that includes cancer research, the polio vaccine, a partical accelerator, the Mafia, assassination theories and the entire cast of those involved in the Kennedy assassination, the FBI, CIA and National institute of Health and various political leaders in New Orleans and Washington during several decades. The information is mind boggling and yet the story comes together with the most amazing order that defies coincidence. While there is no final conclusive solution to the murder, the constant list of names of people who overlap is certainly something that leaves the reader questioning the role of those people of influence during this time and today.

Essential JFK/Oswald Reading

This book seems to easily fit as one of the most important books on outskirts of the Kennedy assassination. While not directly affecting that event, it shades the characters much more on their way to to that event. The medical cover up within is so appalling, I cannot do justice describing it here. But the ramifications are so bad, you could be angered just reading it.

Some good points, beginning is quite compelling

What did you love best about Dr. Mary's Monkey?

The authors frankness

What was one of the most memorable moments of Dr. Mary's Monkey?

The misplaced genius of Mary Sherman

What about Jim Meskimen’s performance did you like?

Excellent

What’s the most interesting tidbit you’ve picked up from this book?

It is very plausible that LHO was a double agent working for RFK.

Any additional comments?

as the author said, the road to Hell is paved with good intentions. The absolute misguided tragedy of the Polio vaccine and the very real consequences of doctors "playing God"It does seem possible that the CIA did finally get their weaponized cancer, as we see from the death of Jack Ruby who stated so and the upcoming death of Hugo Chavez and who knows how many more.We all are aware an know the disaster communism was, but the hysteria of the 50's and 60's seems extreme, especially when you consider that Russia was our ally during WW2 against Germany and JapanThe more I find out about the late 40's and 50's, the more it seems that our leaders had dropped into a fit of madness, we are still paying for it 60 years laterThe SV 40 virus and the possible origins of the Aids virus...all created by mad scientists, I wonder how many other insane projects we don't know about. The end of living and the beginning of survival, upside down world, life out of balance, crazy lifeYou know, sometimes its just better to be humble, say we don't know and allow nature to work things out

Absolutely mind bending!

Very well and concisely written considering the plethora of information contained. This bundle of information from the past will get under your skin and make it crawl. No doubt, Haslam has followed his destiny for which he was put on this Earth.

Dr Mary’s Monkey

Great conspiracy book. I remember some of the events and people of this story from growing up so it made it even more interesting. While the book is not a JFK assassination book it does skirt around the edges of that event. Well worth the time to listen and interesting enough to make one explore further in the events surrounding these medical investigations. Narration was very well done except for the pronunciation of Carlos Marcello’s last name.

The book that has the most damning evidence to the JFK assassination

I brush off most conspiracies but one that I truly believe is that all the players in the JFK assassination had more connections and involvement that what was reported. Ed was unsuspectingly grabbed and pulled through the New Orleans part of the conspiracy and really opens up the prospect the Garrison was onto something and that there were coverups and coincidences that make this story part of solving this conspiracy once and for all. I heard a podcast describe Dr. Mary Sherman’s murder, which led me to this book. Mary’s death may be the key to solving the JFK assassination and finally putting all the theories to rest.

A treat to listen to.

Wow. what a fascinating, and terrifying book! I found myself unable to stop with this one, wanting to see where this was going. Unlike most books mentioning the JFK assassination, this one did not become dry and predictable, nor did it venture into the content delusional world of extreme conspiracy quackery. Rather, in an interesting, and fascinating personal story, this hook made me rethink everything I thought I knew about the history of a slew of major events in the history of not only The United States, but also humanity. Expertly written, and performed superbly, Dr. Mary's Monkey caught my attention, and kept it so well that I finished it in one sitting. Phenomenal.
