awful narration

the girlish voice is atrocious, only fit for die hard Pern fans who can't read the book.

Nice to revisit Pern, but he is NOT his mother

An interesting addition to the Pern landscape, but it is missing something. Not very engaging.

Durante is a new narrator for me, a happy addition

I enjoyed the story. I note Durante read well, keeping characters and voices distinct. She is a good match with Dick Hill for carrying this series forward.

Dragonheart

This was another good read. This story focuses on the dragons and dragonriders. The dragons are suffering from a sickness that is killing dragons as they are just beginning to fight thread. They are losing dragons from both the sickness and thread. This is causing the weyrs to not have enough dragons ready to fight thread.

With that, a group of young dragons and sick dragons and their riders all go back 10 turns so that they can heal and grow. Then they will show back up during their time three days later.

This book didn't keep me that interested. I wasn't as attached to the characters. This is also a parallel book to the other two that I have read prior. I don't know, it wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great either. I think you can only retell the same story from so many perspectives. This was a bit much and then there is one more Dragonsblood. That one is during the same time from a different perspective as well. That one isn't available on audible, so I think I will just be passing that.

Most obnoxious narrator ever

The book was okay. Not much action or plot, but a good Pern novel. Narrator is irritating and has a lisp.

too many loose ends

Any additional comments?

Too many dragon deaths...didn't know the dragons well enough...too many loose ends...not a strong enough Fiona talenth connection...

doesn't live up to the rest of pern

love pern....this book, however, was a struggle. The story...for me...just kind of spun its wheels

Strong female character

Unfortunate scene where the female leader is teased for being fat and her response was to think she was. Otherwise a good story.

rough around the edges

This book takes on a new cast of characters in the Pern Dragonrider series. I've read, not listened to, many of the other books set in this world and thoroughly enjoyed them. The premise of this story is rather vague, the writing is awkward and the plot development is tediously slow. The end of this book seems very far away.
