Resumen del Editor

A coven of witches bent on murder, a cult of hidden figures raising a leviathan to smite the city … sounds like a regular Wednesday morning for Boston PD’s supernatural division.

Chloe Mayfield is a career cop, but when a high-profile bust goes spectacularly wrong, she finds herself assigned to the losers in Boston PD's supernatural division …

… and discovers a world she never knew existed.

Tasked to investigate a drowning far from water in a high-rise building, the symbol carved into the victim’s chest defies explanation. Until she begins to pry, and a coven of witches show up with a threat to stay out of their business.

With a wise-cracking dwarf and a senior-citizen claiming to be a descendent of Joan of Arc at her side, she’ll need to uncover the truth and stop the killer. And she’d better do it soon, because the tides are rising, and one single misstep is all it will take to leave the city, not to mention her career, in ruins.

Get ready for high-stakes supernatural action.

An exciting addition to the best-selling Blue Moon Investigations Series written by Steven Higgs, fans of the series will be overjoyed to see familiar characters as well as to meet a few new ones in this thrilling spin-off series.

Virtual Voice is a 'no go' for me

Don't get me wrong, I adore Steve Higgs' books and look forward to reading anything he writes, so I was really looking forward to the Boston addition to the Blue Moon Investigations series. I work an hour and a half (in good weather and if the traffic gods are smiling) from my home and one of the ways I stay sane is listening to audiobooks. I wasn't sure what to expect when the narration was labeled Virtual Voice, but I thought it might be a cool way to hear different accents instead of a voice actor -maybe- getting a Boston accent close to correct. I. Was. Wrong. Forget that the computer can't differentiate between M.I.T. (Massachusetts Institue of Technology) and pronounced it M-It or butchered the word tourniquet. There is NO inflection, absolutely NO emotion in the voice and there is no difference/change in the characters voices. In a word-FLAT. It is one step away from the robotic voice from a Dalek on Doctor Who. I will NOT be listening to the rest of this book. Guess I'll just have to wait until I get home each evening and read it on my Kindle.
