NOW A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE directed by Denis Villeneuve, starring Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Dave Bautista, Christopher Walken, Léa Seydoux, Stellan Skarsgård, and Charlotte Rampling

Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Muad'dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family—and would bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.

A stunning blend of adventure and mysticism, environmentalism and politics, Dune won the first Nebula Award, shared the Hugo Award, and formed the basis of what is undoubtedly the grandest epic in science fiction. Frank Herbert's death in 1986 was a tragic loss, yet the astounding legacy of his visionary fiction will live forever.

Good but…..

I love Dune ,it’s a great story but the consistency of the voice actors ruined the listening experience , it’s like during the recording some one either marked off sick or took a personal day off and some guy in the studio said no worries I can read and act

Narration was great but...

For some reason the character dialog kept on switching from amazing voice actors to the narrator song their voices and back again. Over and over. It was, at first, confusing... then, annoying. Why wouldn't the voice actors be used for all of their dialog. Another curious choice was the narrator imparting different accents and intonation than the voice actors used. Quite frustrating, even though the narration was excellent as well.

Classic Sci-fi, Brilliantly performed, It's Dune!

This book is as good now as when I first read it at 12. This version on Audible is better, because of the performance of all involved. I found nothing missing, and I read this book several times every year or so. While my original account was stolen, I've bought this book a second time on another account, and I'd do it again.

A most memorable tale

One of the most epic tales narrated by a great group of artists which kept me listening for hours at a stretch.

Great performance and story.

Fascinating story but really seems to rush itself in the latter parts of the book. I really believed in the world of Dune and its cultures. The political intrigue and conflict was a lot stronger in the first half of the book. The Focus shifts pretty strongly to more spiritual exploration and growth of the characters. Thats interesting as well but I preferred the first half. The performances were all great too. I'm very excited to listen to the sequel.

Fun voices…until they’re not.

The book is very good and I’d recommend it. The performance takes a little getting used to but is over well done. However, the actors change randomly towards the last half and it’s difficult to follow who is talking. Not impossible but a little confusing.

An audio play worthy of any stage!!!

Frank Herbert’s Dune as an unabridged audio play worthy of any stage! Such a reminiscent telling like the radio show stories of yesteryear greats like War of the Worlds. An Oscar worthy performance from the actors. I loved the 80’s flick by the same name even the most recent remake but this will keep you entertained as the page turner the book is!!!

fantastic

the best combination of story ark, climax, rising action the overall action politics, not only understandable but well made enough to where youd be happy to reread if not only to be submerged in the story but to find more layers that you missed before. Timeless!
