NOW A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE directed by Denis Villeneuve, starring Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Dave Bautista, Christopher Walken, Léa Seydoux, Stellan Skarsgård, and Charlotte Rampling

Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Muad'dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family—and would bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.

A stunning blend of adventure and mysticism, environmentalism and politics, Dune won the first Nebula Award, shared the Hugo Award, and formed the basis of what is undoubtedly the grandest epic in science fiction. Frank Herbert's death in 1986 was a tragic loss, yet the astounding legacy of his visionary fiction will live forever.

Classic

Can't believe it was written in 1965. Great storyline, very imaginative. Not sure I agree with decisions of the main characters but still very interesting story.

The novel is great, recording is terrible.

Jarring changes of voice actors really ruins what SHOULD be an expertly recorded masterpiece.

Takes me back

Almost as good as reading it when I was a kid.
Only wish each character voice over were separate people.
The Barron's deep voice should have been throughout the whole novel.

An epic story told well. With one odd decision.

It's an incredible vision of the future with plenty of action, intrigue and obligatory giant sand worms. They put together a marvelous cast to help bring the story to life.

The only issue I had was that despite having female cast members, someone chose to give the role of Chani to the main narrator (male). It's really odd to hear her lines when they sound like an elderly man talking about being 15 yr old Paul's concubine to Jessica (Paul's mother) played by a woman.
