NOW A MAJOR MOTION PICTURE directed by Denis Villeneuve, starring Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Dave Bautista, Christopher Walken, Léa Seydoux, Stellan Skarsgård, and Charlotte Rampling

Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Muad'dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family—and would bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.

A stunning blend of adventure and mysticism, environmentalism and politics, Dune won the first Nebula Award, shared the Hugo Award, and formed the basis of what is undoubtedly the grandest epic in science fiction. Frank Herbert's death in 1986 was a tragic loss, yet the astounding legacy of his visionary fiction will live forever.

Please! NO MORE SCOTT BRICK!!!

Scott Brick is AWFUL!!! This title became SIGNIFICANTLY more engaging once his sorry participation was behind me!

Not to use strong words, but, JEEPERS. Why is he permitted to ruin such wonderful stories again and again??!?!

Simon Vance is a rockstar. He should have read the entire story without it having been despoiled. Love his reading.

Would recommend!

This was a good listen and the voice actors did great. With an other movie coming out soon I would highly recommend.

An Incredible Story

I thought the voice acting was incredible and enhanced the story. There aren’t enough words to praise the author with his unique and descriptive writing style. Such a wonderful story. I will now be buying the physical copies too.

Mixed voices, both of good quality

It took me a while to realize that the start, but there is one voice actor who does the voice for everybody, and several voice actors who do the voices for single characters but not always. One chapter you will hear the deep deliberate voice of the Barron by his single voice actor, and the next chapter you’ll hear a fat slimy squeaky voice of the same Barron

Just fantastic

Loved everything about this story. The narration and voice cast were superb. I love the blending of nomadic Arabic, old English, and sci-fi. Was sad when it was over. Fortunately, looks like there are more books related to this.

Great book. Good reading of it.

This has been probably my favorite book for about 30 years. I really enjoyed this reading of it but I have one complaint that kept me from giving it a full 5 stars. The voice actors for certain characters were used sparingly and inconsistently which was jarring. In some cases the baron’s voice changed from one chapter to the next. I’d still highly recommend this book and this reading to anyone.

Great book, not quite up to the hype

It was a great book, but to say it doesn't live up to the hype is something of an understatement. I really enjoyed the way they had multiple voice actors playing the parts at key junctures, and felt that helped add to the story. However, the story is good in it's own way, just not exactly everything I had heard it was or thought it could be.

Soooo good!

I picked this up because of the coming movie slated for release December 2020. It is a magnificent work of science fiction blended with medieval aristocracy, think star wars with game of thrones.

The only negative is that through out the audio book sometimes the narrator does the voices of the characters and other times there will be voice actors doing them. This can be jarring and a bit annoying since the sections that are fully cast are noticeably better than those that are not. The narrator does do his best to change his voice when full cast is not used but after being spoiled by other sections it is definitely noticeable.

That being said the story itself is so good you will find it hard to stop listening and you will ignore the shifts.

Wonderful

I read the previous reviews before purchasing.
Changing voice performance was no problem and were not as noticeable as the reviews make it to be. great performances.
