Murder, Mystery, and Romance

This is Book 2 in the series, but I didn't feel lost, just missing the hot sex the h and H had in the first book because they referenced it a lot. The heat between the characters was scorching and their romance was in the forefront to the murder and mystery going on. The narrator did a great job.

A Great Continuation!

A great continuation to Kate and Walker's story. I'm this one she has not seen or heard from Walker for over a month and then he comes strolling in her work. She fights a battle between hating him and wanting him. Kate ends up helping Walker and the police figure out who is behind guest at her hotel keep getting robbed. Also Kate and Walker's relationship escalate but also hit a bump in the road. Can't wait to listen to the next installment.

A good HFN but there is one book left.

I started the Kate and Walker series back in October 2018. I fully intended to get to books 2 and 3 right away but got side tracked. I'm glad that I finally made the time to finish this series. In the meantime, I've listened to several other audiobooks from Lorhainne Eckhart so I now have a bit better feel for her work.

Because I listened to books two and three back-to-back it's a little hard for me to do separate reviews. Much of what I say here will be repeated in my review of book three.

Fans of her beloved Friessen family saga should not expect that kind of story from this series. The Kate and Walker books are much grittier and the language is much cruder. I have no problem with that, I read all kinds of books from very sweet to absolutely not sweet. 😊

My opinion of the narrator, Glenda Johnson, has also changed after listening to books 2 and 3. I was pretty harsh in my review of book one of this series but I would give her a solid 4 stars now that I've listened to books two and three. She doesn't really attempt to do a male sounding voice for Walker but she does change her tone and the pacing a bit when he is speaking. I had no problems following the story while I was performing various household tasks.

Edge of Night lets us see Kate in her work environment where Walker shows up while working a case. The investigation leads him, and others, on a hunt for who the bad guys really are and trying to get to the bottom of a complicated case.

The story was fast paced and kept me interested until the end. Edge of Night doesn't have what I would call a cliffhanger but I'm glad that there is another book in the series.

A complimentary copy of this audiobook was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author and/or narrator.

Good addition to the series

After listening to book 1 in the series, I wasn’t sure about the series, especially since it was a little different than other stories by this talented author. I am very glad I decided to give it another chance.
I really enjoyed book 2.
Book one introduced us to Detective Walker Pruit and hotel assistant manager Kate Sikes and the crazy way they met.
In this story, a shaky relation begins to blossom. But this new relation is something neither expected and very confusing for Walker, who never thought he would get serious with a woman.
When Kate gets involved in an investigation, things get out of control. Will they be able to handle to aftermath or will they each go their separate ways?
This story is filled with whodunit, good and bad guys, and of course romance. I am looking forward to
