Once the godlike rulers of the capital of Arelon, the inhabitans of Elantris have been imprisoned within themselves, unable to die after the city's magic failed years ago. But when a new prince falls victim to the curse, he refuses to accept his fate.

Great first book by Brandon Sanderson

I thought this was a great stand alone book. The main characters were complex and real and the story was interesting and pulled me in. I cant wait to see what else Brandon Sanderson has to offer.

The voice of Casey Kasem, a little annoying.

The story was slow to get started, but turned out to be very good. I couldn't handle the readers voice though.

Great book, narrator grows on you

Any additional comments?

This book is fantastic but there's one thing Audible needs to fix! The narrator has a great cadence throughout the book, however there's almost no pause between chapters. It in fact sounds like the same thought. Chapters in the book often end with something remarkable or profound, and instead of being able to think on it you're immediately presented with the next chapter as though it was part of the same sentence Chapter 2.

Very good, for an early work.

Not quite as Organized as his later works; but a very good lusten. I would recommend this book .

One Minor Problem

I love the book and the story is great....I just wish that there was a pause in between chapters to let my mind gather all the information that just went down.

Got through it but

Having been through many of Sanderson series maybe I’ve grown too accustomed to certain things but this one seems pretty cliched by and large. Movie script type deus ex machina ending and that kind of stuff. Seems like he’s styling the heroine after Robert Jordan being an “assertive” woman. One of my least favorite, seems young and cheesy relying quite a bit on didactic/misplaced LDS doctrinal stylings.
