About this listen

The city of the gods. Elantris once stood as the symbol of all that is beautiful. A sprawling metropolis of unrivaled grandeur, it was a symbol of power and strength, built to be as imposing as it was magnificent.

The only thing more glorious than the city itself was its inhabitants, godlike beings, with silvery skin and hair of the purest, flowing white. Able to create powerful magics with a mere wave of their hands, the Elantrians were able to heal mortal wounds and create any object they desired. To be an Elantrian was to be without sickness, without pain, and without want.

And anyone could become a god. Through a process known as the "Shaod", a normal person could go to bed one night and awake the next morning to throw away the shackles of mortality and become a being of incomparable power and grace. With Elantris as their beacon, the light inside all humanity was allowed to shine, elevating it to new heights.

But Elantris fell...10 years ago.

Strong dramatized performances, weak story.

Characters are one dimensional, plot is contrived and simplistic, but the vocal performances bring the story alive and give each character more depth than they would normally have had.

Interesting and entertaining

I started reading the physical book Elantris and found the unusual names disrupted a smooth reading experience. I found the graphic audio version and the high quality production with sound effects, different voices and background music really brought the story to life. Political intrigue, romance, and action contained within the story made for an engaging experience. Highly recommended!

the dramatization was great

took too long to get to the point. Story was lacking. Bandin needed another book to properly end the story.

One of my favorite books

I have read this book multiple times and never get tired of it, so when I saw that a dramatized version was available , I had to give it a try. Excellent work by the voice actors!

For an early Sanderson novel this is well done. The performance is great as always from DA. excited for sequels

Almost flawless, but the flaws are aggravating

The vocal performances were excellent. Everyone's character sounded as they should. It's two major flaws where that the background sound effects and music would occasionally drown out the dialogue or narration, and many of the names were mispronounced.

Story is fantastic, sound effects too strong

So the story of the book is fantastic however my primary issue is the volume of the music and sound effects in the background at times. They get so loud at several key points in the story that it is extremely difficult to actually hear what is being said. The sound effects in the music do add a lot but they take so much from some of those key points in the story that I just can't give it full marks

One of The Best Fantasy Stories I've Come Across

Graphic Audio!
You've brought this tale to LIFE!
This was a real movie in my mind...
The storyline was so good that this NEEDS to be a movie on its on.

I'm in love with the story, from beginning to end. I enjoyed how Brandon Sanderson orchestrated this story through the eyes of the 3 main characters;
Raiden
Sarene
and Drathan

The storyline is written in such a way where you as the reader are yearning to know 'what started the Reode', that caused the once beautiful Elantris to be brought down like this;
A city once glowing with the light and power of the DOR. It's people, who were once beautiful and powerful, living in a magnificent city filled with wisdom and enchantment...

and then the Reode...

Once you find out what caused the Reode, you will be surprised... Something so natural, yet unatural.

I personally loved Raoden. Although he is a fantasy character, I was personally moved by his optimism. I found this quite relatable in life, how many people I find around me who are negative, refusing to see a solution or a purpose/answer to a problem.
Optimism is a virtue I find rare these days in the upcoming generation, although not all ...
but unfortunately, too many people tend to like choosing to be depressed and be a victim.
Raoden is my favorite character.
Though not perfect, I love the fact that he never gives up.

The way the pain of the new Elantrians was portrayed, I imagined so, where I could feel their pain too ..

The religions of this world were conveyed very well... Though a fantasy story, it brings the reality of the world we live in, into the storyline, even the struggles of faith devote people deal with, like Drathan...
And he turned out to the hero in the end...

okay, so enough spoilers..
Download this book, don't wait any longer!!
An epic journey awaits you!

There is so much I want to say about this book..
I absolutely enjoyed it!

I look forward to reading more books written by Brandon Sanderson. Graphic Audio, you have my full respect. Once again, thank you for bringing this story to life with the great voice acting and beautiful music!!
