Publisher's summary

When life gives you lemons, use them for lemonade or let them sour your life.

Clara Tildon, a cancer survivor, has no time for defeatism. She’s opened the Cute as a Button B & B in Bridgewater, Indiana, and along with her guinea pig, is embracing the lemonade lifestyle. It’s always how she wanted to live. Everything is perfect, except for the nagging sensation that she would still like to fall in love.

Jake Yates has returned to Bridgewater, the town he grew up in, for his friend’s wedding, and he’s not happy about it. He got out once and coming back, even for a visit, is not on his agenda. The people of Bridgewater can keep their small-town life, it’s in his past, and that’s where he intends it to stay. Even loneliness can’t make him reconsider his decisions.

A chance meeting. A fleeting kiss. Suddenly two opposites have a unique chance at love. But can Clara give up living in the moment long enough to see Jake as an opportunity she needs to plan for? Can Jake alter his well-laid plans to put Clara front and center in his life? Changing perspectives is the only way love can bloom.

Sweet as Lemonade

Normally I have a hard time following a story told in 3rd person but this sweet story was easy to follow. I didn’t care for the lemonade metaphors, but if you are looking for a quick small town romance this is it.

Sweet, but slow story

This is a very sweet story with a great message. We do need to remember that life is a journey, enjoy every day. But honestly I had a really hard time connecting with the characters.

Reminder to Live in the Moment

Clara is a cancer survivor and her way of dealing with the trauma of cancer is to live in the moment and do things that make her happy. She meets Jake and hopes that maybe they can have a relationship despite what the future may hold. She teaches him about her theory on life and how to live in the moment except after a week the fear of Clara's cancer coming back causes a rift in their budding relationship.
Fun story with excellent reminders for how to live life. The narration fit the story well and was easy to listen to.

survival

This was sad, inspirational, and hopeful. I empathized with both main characters. It did get a bit over the top for me with the anthem of making the best of.... I would find it hard to be this optimistic, but that's me. A roller-coaster of emotions. with an uplifting ending. I voluntarily listened to a free copy of this and am giving an honest review. The narrator did a good job.

Enjoyed the story

I loved the story in this book and for that alone I would have rated it with 5 stars. But the inappropriate language and suggestive content were not to my liking. The narration was okay, but there were times when I couldn't tell for several sentences who was speaking. I wish every aspect of the story had been as good as the story itself. Jake and Clara were wonderful. I was reminded that we all must remember that life is fragile and none of us know when our time to die may come. Live with no regrets as much as possible.
