Publisher's summary

Emily of New Moon is the first in the Emily Starr series by beloved Canadian author L.M. Montgomery. Young Emily is a quick-witted and imaginative orphan who is sent to live with her two maiden aunts at New Moon Farm on Prince Edward Island. Though initially disheartened by her strict and conventional Aunt Elizabeth, Emily soon grows to love her new family and New Moon Farm. Adventures await as Emily makes new friends: passionate, hot-tempered Ilse Burnley; quiet, artistic Teddy Kent; and rough and tumble fast-talker, Perry Miller.

With them by her side, Emily uncovers the forgotten mysteries of her new surroundings and discovers her true destiny to become a "famous poetess."

Set against the picturesque backdrop of Prince Edward Island, Emily of New Moon will delight any fan of L. M. Montgomery's acclaimed Anne of Green Gables.

Emily of New Moon

Absolutely loved it! It is the story of a nearly orphaned girl that ends up with her mothers people when her father dies.I enjoyed it.It made me cry and laugh.Wendy Rich Stetson was a terrific narrator. I was given this book by the narrator, author or publisher free for an honest review.

Another brave lass

Emily is just slightly less brazen than Anne, but also a little more prone to reactionary. I mourned her act of burning her treasured diary. Montgomery intensifies the story line by filling PEI with people I would never want to meet. Reminds me of similar ilk in many 18th 19th century British stories. Glad I did not live then or there. That is why Emily Starr earns 5 stars but the story only 4.
