About this listen

From the #1 New York Times best-selling author of Bared to You

Years ago, Evangeline Hollis spent a blistering night with a darkly seductive man she can’t forget. But that evening of addictive pleasure has become a disaster of biblical proportions: She’s been branded with the Mark of Cain. Now Eve is thrust into a world where sinners are marked and drafted to kill demons. Her former one-night stand, Cain, is now her mentor - and his equally sexy brother Abel is her new boss. And Eve has become the latest point of contention in the oldest case of sibling rivalry in history.... Cursed by God, hunted by demons, desired by Cain and Abel...all in a day's work.

if your not offended by biblical inference

A good listen if your into paranormal genre, not offended by biblical inference or sexual content. I enjoyed it and intend to get other books in this series. I'd say it's worth the credit.

Needed something new and I found it!

Iv read all the billionaire hottie gets sweet innocent damaged girl books....Bc that's what I like. But it can get a little old. This was a PERFECT change of pace. I really enjoy S. Day's style of writing. Also, I am a religious person so it was fun and interesting following all the parallels with the bible. I'm routing for eve and Cain! Can't wait to start the next book.....Now!

Interesting Story but hard to hear

This is a very interesting story on an old classic. It kept me entertained the whole way through. But, I had a very hard time hearing the lower register voice of the narrator. Even with my noise canceling headphones I had to turn the volume up almost all the way to hear the mens voice but that in turn made the womens voice super loud!

WE'RE ON THE EVE OF A GREAT NEW SUSPENSE SERIES

Love love love Sylvia Day's books and this is the start of a promising paranormal listen which is a fast paced story about celestial retribution as Cain and Abel fight and kill Demons for God but both lookalike brothers have fallen for the same woman - Eve but one brother marked her for servitude to fight Demons for God and one loves her. She becomes a pawn in the supernatural fight that has witches, werewolves, archangels, various demons, angels and, of course, marked souls and we, the listeners, are thrown in to watch the torment and mayhem as it unfolds.

Skilfully written and fresh the imaginative world building by SD is a totally new concept in the paranormal world and we have no idea what or who we are going to encounter next... we hear about God and his troops but what about Lucifer? It's got an attention grabbing first chapter then we are thrown into six weeks prior to it, couple this with sex, violence, drama, intrigue, plot twists, romance, likeable main characters and some evil ones too. You end up feeling like you're on a great mysterious funfair ride however, you don't know what it does, what comes next or where, when or how it's going to eventually finish but you know it's gonna be one hell of a ride and so all you can do is hold on tight and scream gimme more more more.

Worth a credit? Oh my God after this review..... it's a heavenly YES of course, and I pray Audible will give us the other 4 books in this series.

Wow, a supernaturally biblical Gideva!

Would you consider the audio edition of Eve of Darkness to be better than the print version?

I don't read books must - 99% audio, so moot.

What did you like best about this story?

I liked the action and the interplay and subterfuge between characters.

What does Jill Redfield bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She is a kick-ass Evangeline and frankly, a great voice for male characters too.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

As I listened, I thought, well, here's a pre-quel to Gideon and Eva, in a weird way.. even with Eve being Asian-American and Cain being a biker guy, I could see it... it's almost like this book got Sylvia Day to thinking, hmmmm... what if our modern day Cain was more urbane, and wealthy, and the heroine was blonde and kick ass attitude. Let's even name Gideon after the bible... adding Jill Redfield as narrator was perfect. I had been jonesing for more Sylvia Day since I finished One With You (I have heard the entire series 4 times now) and downloaded these MARKED books to bide my time till her next book emerges.

Any additional comments?

This series seems promising... and entertaining!! Not as much raw sex as the Crossfire series. But, there's some there!

Loved the concept

I’ve been reading Sylvia D. for years. I love her stuff, this one was a bit more tame than I anticipated.

Not sure yet......

I am not sure how I feel about the book. The biblical references really didn't bother me but the story really didn't grab my attention.

The relationship between Eve and the brothers wasn't believable so I was not captivated.

I believe in finishing what I start so I will complete the series and hopefully my opinion will change.
