About this listen

Giovanni Romero had been dealt his fair share of heartbreak throughout his 30 years, including losing his beloved parents in a horrible car accident. After suffering yet another devastating loss, he decided to chase his dream of opening his own restaurant and was soon the proud owner of Romero’s, a hugely successful and critically acclaimed Italian restaurant, nestled in the heart of Chicago.

Knowing that one more blow to his heart could destroy him, Giovanni had built walls up around his heart to protect himself. He had created strict rules for himself about the men he slept with, which included never exchanging names and absolutely no repeat performances. That was until he met a young man whom he found impossible to forget.

After spending the last few years traveling throughout Europe and the Mediterranean, working as an apprentice to some of the world’s top chefs, 23-year-old Caleb Greene was finally moving back home. While he had enjoyed his studies, he couldn’t wait to reunite with his big, crazy, loving family, especially his twin brother, Carter. Most importantly, he hoped to finally begin his career working as the head chef for Chicago’s most prestigious Italian restaurant, Romero’s.

After a night of celebration with Carter, Caleb finds himself in a rare position, going home with a tall, dark, and sexy stranger. Caleb had never had a one-night stand before, but there was something about the man that drew him in. Unfortunately, the man insisted they could be together for only one night.

Unable to get the intriguing young man off his mind, but resolved to let him go, Giovanni was shocked to find that Caleb had been hired as his new head chef. Working in such close proximity to each other, could he keep his carefully erected walls in place and protect his heart, or would Caleb have the strength to tear those walls down, setting Giovanni free?

The perfect love match: restauranteur and chef

I was so excited to revisit the story of Giovanni and Caleb.  I enjoyed the beautifully written words Annabella weaved to create this wonderful m/m romance.  Gio and Caleb’s story takes place in my favorite city, Chicago and I enjoyed all the memories brought up throughout the book.  After working his way through Europe learning the ins and outs of cooking, Caleb comes home to Chicago.  Imagine his surprise when his one-night stand turns out to be his new boss, Giovanni. Giovanni owns Romero’s, where the job as head chef, has brought him finally home.  Which is the just the beginning of a romance filled with love, sex, intrigue, and angst.  I had read this book when it was released in June of 2016 and was so excited when the audible version became available.  I was given a chance to listen to this book and was eager to hear Annabella’s words come to life.  Michael Pauley as the narrator of this book is impressive. Michael brings the Feeding the Soul: Souls of Chicago book to life.  He brought to life the story and mastered the Chicago accent, that I remember from my childhood.  Michael switches from character to character with ease.  He brings the words to life and brings the already steamy sex scenes to a higher level of eroticism.  I will definitely be revisiting this story again and again.

Heartwarming and Sweet

Feeding the Soul is a lovely story of two men who appear to be opposites at first, but soon discover they have more in common than expected. Caleb Green is a talented, young chef who hopes to find success when he returns home to Chicago, after living and studying abroad. He’s excited to be back home with his big, loving family and his twin brother. Not one for the hookup scene, he also hopes to find the right man to start a relationship with.

Giovanni Romero has fulfilled his dream of opening a successful restaurant. Having suffered a shocking and devastating divorce from his college sweetheart, he has no intention of ever getting fooled again. He loves his friends and employees like family, has opened the restaurant of his dreams, and lives his life exactly as he wants it. Until Caleb Green turns things upside down. Slowly, Caleb wears down Giovanni’s walls and shows him what life can be like with the right person. But is Giovanni really ready to trust again after having been burned so badly by his ex?

Michael Pauley’s narration is wonderful. He brings Annabella’s characters to life with his expressive story telling. He adjusts his voice for each character and emotes just the right feeling for each scene.

Overall, this was a well-written and entertaining first book by Annabella Michaels. I look forward to listening to the other audiobooks in this series.

LOVE This Story

I can't even begin to say just how much I love this story. I fell in love with all of the characters. They had me laughing, crying, screaming and going through so many emotions. Giovanni and Caleb are so perfect together. I love the patience and understanding that Caleb has for Giovanni, and I really like seeing Giovanni opening up and breaking down his walls throughout the story.
Michael Pauley is totally amazing. He brings lie to the story and the characters. He makes you really feel all of the emotions that the characters are experiencing. He is truly gifted!!

This audio is a great addition my library

I read this book when it was first released by Annabella Michaels. I fell in love with Gio and Caleb at that point, but after not reading this series for a while I found myself falling in love with them all over again with the addition of the wonderful Michael Pauley providing the audio for these two wonderful characters. Gio and Caleb meet and have a fun filled one night stand, only to find out the very next day that they will be working together. Giovanni has no desire to enter into a relationship with anyone after his divorce and Caleb has put all of his efforts into building his career and avoided relationships since high school. These two are explosive together and have some of the sweetest moments that melt a heart. I really enjoyed not only the book but the audio as well.
