About this listen

From the number-one New York Times best-selling author behind the upcoming Starz original series The White Princess, a gripping new Tudor story featuring King Henry VIII's sisters Mary and Margaret, along with Katherine of Aragon, vividly revealing the pivotal roles the three queens played in Henry VIII's kingdom.

As sisters they share an everlasting bond; As queens they can break each other's hearts.

When Katherine of Aragon is brought to the Tudor court as a young bride, the oldest princess, Margaret, takes her measure. With one look, each knows the other for a rival, an ally, a pawn, destined - with Margaret's younger sister Mary - to a sisterhood unique in all the world. The three sisters will become the queens of England, Scotland, and France.

Critic reviews

"Narrator Bianca Amato, as usual, excels with Gregory's material.... Amato subsumes herself into the story and puts the focus on the world that Gregory is reanimating rather than her narration." ( AudioFile)

Gregory does not disappoint!

The best historical fiction writer of them all has done it again! I have been anxiously awaiting the release of Philippa Gregory's latest novel, "Three Sisters, Three Queens," and downloaded it the day it came available. I was not disappointed!
As always, Bianca Amato's performance is impeccable! "Three Sisters, Three Queens" explores the lives of three women, perhaps not as familiar to us as the likes of the Boleyns or the Parrs. We have the opportunity to look more closely at Margaret and Mary, sisters of King Henry VIII, and his first wife, Catherine of Aragon. Passions, betrayals, masques, and jousts, Gregory does not disappoint.

A great read!

This book gave me the best grasp on Margret's life than any I've read. Bianca read her a bit like she did Margret Beaufort.

Fascinating characters

Interesting story from a female perspective of a male dominated culture as ordained by "God".

Very well read.

Best historical novel ever

I did not want this novel to end. As a student of history and a retired High School LA teacher of 25 years,I found this story very well written and narration was excellent. I'm going now to find another of Phillipa Gregory's novels. This is my second one. Love love love

Awesome Narrator

The narrator for this book is excellent.

I love the story. A well written tale of the struggles of being a royal woman of the time. It does get a little slow at some points, but definitely worth the read or listen!

A little misleading

I enjoyed it but the title and description is misleading. It's not about the three women. It's about Margaret.

Terrific!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would recommend this book to any of my friends that enjoy historical fiction.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My favorite character was James IV, as he seemed playful and Bianca Amato gave life to him, and all the characters, in ways other narrators seem to lack.

What does Bianca Amato bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She gives each character their own speech traits, sounds, accents, and gives an experience that I, as an avid reader, can appreciate. I listened to the Cousin's Series where she narrates most of those books, and she is truly astounding in all of them, as she is in this book. I've gone and looked her up on Audible to look at everything she had done because she gives so much personality to each character, even changing their tone and traits as the go through their life and develop from children to adults.
