About this listen

Jenny's dreams have turned to nightmares.

Every night, her thoughts are filled with evil. Something is reaching out...and she's not so sure she wants to reach back. That is, until someone new appears in her dreams. Someone who protects her, comforts her, and thinks of Jenny as his mate. Imaginary friends aren't real, but Jenny likes to pretend, anyhow.

Then, one day, one of the mindless dragons guarding the fort awakens...and Jenny realizes that the friend from her dreams isn't a figment of her imagination. He's a dragon.

And he's looking to claim his female.

Contains mature themes.

Entertaining but yet lacking.

I enjoyed the new female narrator. I felt like she was a completely different person and it was a lot more enjoyable to listen to her story. While the old narrator was a decent actor, all her character voices sounded the same.
I would have loved for the author to focus on the World building a little bit more. Outside of that, I enjoy the book and I'll be finishing the series.

Jenny + Mahl

📚- ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🥵- 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
🗣️- 🎧🎧🎧🎧🎧

Mahl is so different from the other dragons. He is cocky, arrogant and has really bad memory loss every time he switches from battle form to his two legged form. Also, Jenny and Mahl were able to communicate via mind speak in her dreams unlike the other couples. We also learn the babies are important in keep away the evil coming through the rift. This is the second to last book in this series and very enjoyable. I enjoyed the new female narrator as well. Narration was perfect.

Don’t eat the bugs….

A sentence you think you don’t have to say, but when in the apocalypse life is hard, you do what you have to. I liked this book, but it seemed to drag on a bit in the second half. I’m all for a smexy book, but maybe a few less scenes would have benefited this story and a more action scene with the bugs. I thought it was interesting how Mal kept forgetting everything when he changed forms and the glasses. I like the addition of the rift needing to be closed. Another good series in the same vein is Lynnea Lee Xarc’n series. Narrators were good.

Another one that felt particularly ✨

I think what I loved the most is the mariage of the narration with the hilarious and sarcastic tone of the story that grows on you as the story evolves.

The saga continues… awesome

Dixon wrote in interesting twist to this romance relationship. She gave new layers to this universe continuing the story. I’m looking forward to seeing what the next book reveals

am I the only one wondering...

Why is it that Gwen, Rachel, and Jenny do not have their mates helping the people in the fort? They go scavenging for themselves for clothes and goods and their mates hunt food. Why don't they share with the people who are struggling. And why do they allow the women to stay forced in the "panty program" when they could be brought to Fort Shreveport? Even when they're bargaining with Azar for good food it's only for themselves when they know how hard it is for others that don't have a dragon mate. Their selfishness has bugged me through the last few books. Aside from that, it is a pretty good book.

Jeremy York does a great job as he has throughout this series. I didn't like the change in female narrator for this book. I do like Jillian Macie in other books, but not this one. And I couldn't help noticing that she pronounced "familiar" as "fermilier". I wish that Dixon would have stuck with Noelle Bridges.

Series is amazing but this narrator?

I devoured this entire audible series in the last two weeks. Loved it… until this book. The story is excellent like all the rest but the female narrator ruined it. She basically has two tones. It’s very hard to follow along and get the jest of feelings/tone with her voice. I was very disappointed - especially as this book leads into the final book.

This was good, But...

I found myself going into a different feel for this book. this young lady and her dragon had so many problems. I was very frustrated with both of them at times. she eventually helped him as he ( hesitantly) did for her in the end. it did leave an opening for human evolution. I hope I'm wrong about that. . . .
