Publisher's summary

Earth was invaded. Earth was conquered. And humanity was summarily subjugated, as 400,000,000 people were culled.

The terrifying part was this only took the Peacekeepers a second. There wasn't even a chance for us to fight back. In the blink of an eye, questions like whether or not we're alone in the universe or at the top of the food chain were answered. We were not. Not by a long shot.

Despite the mass murder, the Peacekeepers promise they're benevolent. They don't want to rule Earth. They don't want to control humanity. They just want us to stop playing around with AI and genetics.

Willing or unwilling, Morgan and the rest of humanity are now members of the Collective. And like every species in the Collective, they have to learn to play the Game.

What do you do when an AI offers you the opportunity to play the greatest tower defense game the universe has ever created? You accept, of course.

Learning the rules and finding a way to survive can come later. Morgan certainly thinks so.

When aliens are attacking your station and giant six-eyed rats are eating your robotic face, you start to have your doubts. Accidentally starting a war doesn't help, either. But what are you going to do? You're the first line of defense—and you've got a job to do.

Another great book!

I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this book. Somehow the author manages to make a lot happen in a relatively short time without it feeling rushed. A great book and fun listen. I would have obviously preferred it to be about 6-10 hrs longer but still great. I hope he enjoyed writing it as much as I enjoyed listening to it because I really want a sequel haha.

Awesome book.

I loved it, my only complaint is it's too short. I could have listened another 8 hours lol. It's really not short but so much happens it feels like it .

I'm really looking forward to a sequel. Travis's narration was excellent as usual.

Fun fast paced read

Lots of quips and banter. Smart character and a fun take on tower defense.

Another great book!

I get annoyed by books that make the protagonist, so overwhelmingly powerful that you can’t touch him, but in this case, this was very enjoyable

Best Core Book?

This story was so much fun. Usually dungeon books are a bit boring on the raiding and battles, but this was incredible! Once you start listening you won't put it down. I feal like all dungeon or core books should be at this pace. From the dungeons perspective and battles be engaging and not a play by place of each punch or kick.

Worth a credit.

A great combo

My problem with the usual "game-based" LitRPG is the lack of real world consequences. FLoD avoids this issue by having the game influence and impact what happens in real life to the players. If you haven't read any other books by the author, you're in for a treat. If you have, you'll enjoy the typical humor and emotional bonding. There's enough stats to the keep those looking for crunch LitRPG happy while not just repeating plus one to strength over and over. I'm hoping for many more books in the series.

Why is it only 8ish hours long?!

Ugh this book was way to short.
It's so good i want more.
I've noticed majority of his books have a comedic partner, and this one was the most hilarious. Their jokes and sarcasm with each other were comical. And the story progressed so well without it being too linear.

I wish there were more. I can't wait for the sequel. if there was one.
