Publisher's summary

Set apart from other 18-year-olds, Ana Hughes knows she is different. A life-threatening heart condition smothers her future and she yearns to feel normal. Her hopes are pinned on a fresh start in a remote town far from her native Colorado. Among the locker filled hallways in Clark Bend High, Ana keeps to the shadows, not wanting to draw attention to her violet tinged lips and wilted silhouette. And she almost succeeds, until she meets Chance Morgan. Struggling to keep up appearances, she soon suspects Chance is hiding something as well. His animal-like senses, miraculous healing ability, and peculiar reaction to her Thunderbird necklace compels Ana to question if there's more to the stories about his Navajo ancestry. Without any other explanation, she fears he is playing tricks on her. But the truth may prove too much for Ana's delicate heart...

Which will come first: a date, a transplant, or ?

Born with a heart defect, burdened with heart surgery at an early age, an additional heart disease and all the doctor/hospital visits, Ana has never been able to 'fit in'. Now Ana, her sister, and mother move to Idaho to live near her mother's sister in the house their parents once lived in, and the new job with health insurance that the aunt had secured for the mom. This means the agony of trying to remain invisible in a new school in the middle of her senior year, and her heart condition is becoming more noticeable to any observant others. The most important non-family person to notice is fellow senior, Chance. There is mutual attraction as well as each of them keeping a secret from the other. Going further into the plot would bring on the spoilers. The author does an excellent job of portraying a young person with a visible chronic illness and also the way that a balanced, caring family can be supportive of the individual's needs while coping the best that they can. Chance is a young man with a caring family and an unusual secret. The plot is sound, and all moves along smoothly. This is a love story, and it has many suspenseful times, and you already know that it is a shapeshifter tale.
Carly Robins gives a remarkable performance as Ana and does a pretty good job on the rest of the characters as well. She gives depth and life to each of them.
I was able to purchase as Whispersync for less than $3 courtesy of Book Gorilla.

Sweet teen romance

Good book. Interesting shapeshifter novel. The Indian fokelore was interesting, and the sweet romance moved the story along. It was different than I expected but very enjoyable.

This book kinda just stops.

Would you try another book from Natasha Brown and/or Carly Robins?

I will get the next in this series if it comes out in Audible. I don't have a lot of time to read for pleasure but I do drive a lot and like to listen to books.

I can't

This book is awful. The plot sucks, the characters are underdeveloped and unlikable. By the end I was wishing death on one of them just to spice it up. Im happy it's over. It took me 6 months to get through it...I guess I'm not a quitter.

Might be ok if you’re a teenage girl.

TECHNICAL: No horrendous flaws, like heavy breathing or sticky saliva sounds.
PERFORMANCE: Limited skill at voice acting. Didn’t like the voice at all.
STORY/AUTHORCRAFT: I’m thinking the editor was high on something to let this drivel pass.

Snore

Tried to be The Fault in Our Stars and Twilight but failed at being either. painfully boring. Made Edward and Bella seem interesting and complex and made TFIOS seem action packed in comparison
