Story
Dawn Dixon can hardly believe she's on a groomless honeymoon on beautiful Cape Cod...with her mother. Sure, Marnie Dixon is good company, but Dawn was supposed to be here with Kevin, the love of her life (or so she thought). Marnie Dixon needs some time away from the absolute realness of life as much as her jilted daughter does, and she's not about to let her only child suffer alone - even if Marnie herself had been doing precisely that for the past month.

Welcome to a place of unconditional love and unexpected blessings. When widow Rose Schrock turns her Amish farmhouse into a bed and breakfast, she expects there might be problems. The reaction of her cantankerous mother-in-law for one. Disapproval from the church for another. But what she doesn’t expect is that the guests at the Inn at Eagle Hill will spill their problems into her life and into her heart. Story
Impulsive Lydie Stoltzfus has always felt like a disappointment—a square peg in a round hole in her quiet Amish community. Leaving her family and church seems like her best move, even though it would mean leaving Nathan Yoder behind. Nathan claims he’s in love with her, but she knows she’s not good enough for him. And if she is ever in doubt, Nathan’s father reminds her frequently. Knowing Lydie is “between” jobs again, the local doctor asks her to fill in at the front desk for a few months. This gives Lydie time to figure out how she’s going to say goodbye to Nathan

Surely here, at her brother-in-law's Kentucky farm, Rose and her daughters can recover from the events of the recent past—the loss of her husband during the 1918 influenza epidemic, her struggle with tuberculosis that required a stay at a sanatorium, and her girls' experience in an orphanage during her illness. From the author of the Copper Star series, winner of multiple awards, comes this heartwarming tale of Samantha Christiansen: a young woman who is capable, confident, good at her job of managing the family's olive oil ranch...and is going blind. Gently pushed by her family to get a guide dog, Samantha is partnered with Azure, a yellow lab with infinite patience.
Samantha and Azure are assigned to Jack Shaw, an instructor known for bringing out the best in his students...even those who have absolutely no experience with dogs, like Samantha. Jack understands how difficult it can be to trust the unseen. A former professional football player, he lost everything - his career and his family - through a costly mistake. Jack is determined to make the rest of his life count for something. He knows he can help Samantha, if only she'll let him.
Fiercely independent, Samantha is reluctant to depend on anyone or anything, even a guide dog that is trained to enhance her independence. While at the guide dog school, Samantha is faced with discovering a new way of seeing: trusting in what, or whom, she cannot see.

Story
After a tornado rips through her town, store owner Abigail comes across a piece of fabric from a wedding dress among the devastation. Abigail is moved to start collecting other swatches of fabric she finds - her neighbor’s kitchen curtains, a man’s necktie, a dog’s bed - which she stashes in shopping bags. As she pursues her seemingly absurd quest, horrible realities spark the question, “What kind of a God would allow such tragedy?”

Not for Me
I was looking for a romance story that at its center was about dogs and their pet parents. This book cover struck me as being light-hearted, maybe even fun. It turns out the main character, Samantha, is losing her eyesight. After nearly being hit by a car, a male stranger (who witnesses the near accident) suggests a guide dog. Initially, Samatha is unable to acknowledge that her deep lack of trust in anything (let alone a guide dog) is at the heart of her deep sadness. And by chapter 5, she's attending a faith service where the minister says to all that faith in God is the real answer to life.
This is not what I was looking for. I'm writing a review now because I think it was misleading of the book's publisher to not at least identify this story as faith-based. For certain, there's an audience for these books, but I'm not among them. Another disappointment for me was the narrator. The main characters are in their 20's and 30's, but the narrator's voice sounds middle aged at best.
