Enjoyed thoroughly
I have enjoyed every book I have listened to by C.J. Box. The narrator captures the characters very well and is enjoyable to listen to. This particular book reveals a lot about Nate.

Lose that fake southern accent
I usually like this narrator, but his corn pone rendering of any character who is supposed to have a southern accent gets under my skin a bit. Otherwise, this was one of the better Joe Pickett novels.

Finally learn about Nate's shocking past!!
So good! We finally get a story that is mostly from Nate's perspective and we learn a lot about his very shocking and mysterious past. This is interesting, because normally we get to see Nate as a former military, expert falconer, survival expert that doesn't care as much about the law as most other people. In this installment, Nate spends the majority of the book on the run, on the defensive, in survival mode. It's a really tense time for those of us who are big fans of Nate, but also realize that he makes really dangerous choices a lot of the time.
David Chandler's perfect narration was so much fun to listen to in this installment. I especially love the voice he has given Nate, and since Nate has so much page time, it was a real treat to listen to.

Picket for President...Nate for Sec of Defense
About as good as it gets in this genre (along with Craig Johnson’s Longmire series). A shout out to Mr Chandler for another outstanding performance

Best yet
I love this book by CJ Box! And I am obsessed with the Joe Pickett series! This book was a little different as it revolves around Nate Romanowski’s character.
