The Fun Continues

Would you listen to Foxglove Summer again? Why?

YES! I can't get enough of the great narrator and there are lots of sly references you might miss the first time.

What did you like best about this story?

The setting was great, being away from London and familiar surroundings gave us some new characters but brought along Beverly Brook, who I love. It was a good mystery to solve for Peter Grant and it was a bit of a break from the continuing story line in the other books.

What does Kobna Holdbrook-Smith bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

OMG! I do read the books too but even when reading I hear his voice for the characters. What a perfect pairing of narrator and character. I wouldn't be this hooked on Perter Grant without Kobna Holdbrook-Smith!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The bits where he was talking to the old wizard and learning more about the history of Nightingale and the fun with Beverly!

I can't wait to hear the next one!

Love the characters and twisting plot

Excellent series - great character development and lots of twists and turns to the story - can't wait for more.

Love every book about Peter so far!

Having lived in England as a child I love all the British things. References to classic and current acidic/fantasy add to the fun.

Best reader ever!

I love this series! I have listened to these books multiple times and I never cease to be amazed by not only be writing but the reading. Holbrook Smith is beyond question the best reader I ever heard, with the possible exception of Jim Dale. The writing is excellent, well edited and descriptive. Peter Grant is an excellent character and grows stronger in his magic practice with each book. It is just so believable. If U haven't read them, start with the first one. You will never want to put them down.

I've listened to this book multiple times. I love it so much I've bought the gard copy of the series.. I LOVE the performance! I wish there were more I'm this series.

Better and better

each book gets better and better. Keeps leaving me wanting more and not being able to wait to get the next book. I love how you get the continuing backstory vets it's true the whole series so far, well giving you a new story with new characters and theme.

Great story, love-hate relationship with narrator

I loved the story this time around. I for one am relieved that Leslie is almost entirely absent from this book. My only real issue is with the narrator. I appreciate his goal of authenticity but a lot of the time the whispering or altered speech (Stan) is nearly impossible to understand. Combine that with the judicious British slang/vernacular and I'm having to go back many times to figure out what was said. Though I really can't imagine any other person voicing Nightingale the way he does (which is perfect IMO).

The best one yet

I didn’t like Book 4 at all - until the end. Thought I’d try the next in the series and am so glad I did. Book 5 - Foxglove Summer - is amazing. The best in the series. Keep listening!

My favorite Ben Aaronovich Book

Definitely my favorite Rivers of London book - so far!!!!!
Love the story so much! Many new things have come to light. There was a lot going on in this story and I felt the author really did an excellent job blending it all in for a compelling story.
And narration is excellent! My favorite narrator ever!
Enjoy this story!

Beverly is back!

Enjoyed this latest in the series. I do enjoy the series and I am so glad Beverly is back in this one.
