Publisher's summary

Fractured takes the the listener through a journey starting when the author Mckenzie Turley was a young girl navigating through some pivotal experiences that shaped her perception of the world.

We move quickly into her adulthood and what was the catalyst for her entreprenurial 5 year sprint of growing a hair extension brand with a current valuation estimated at almost 9 figures.

This book tells a story of the juxtaposition of personal tribulations and how they influenced the author to lean into the idea converting breakdowns to breakthroughs and use the fractured pieces to fuel industry-changing innovation.

Determination and Strength, keys to growing and succeeding

I am not a hairstylist or an IBE anything. I came to know the IBE name a few years ago when researching sewn in beaded extensions for my own hair. McKenzie had something in her, a sparkle and sass, in her videos on SM and her YouTube channel. I obsessed over her perfectionism and laughed at some of her silliness while showing what her method could do (installing a weft on a man’s short beard).
So when she announced she had her book coming out while I was feeling a slump in my own business, I knew it needed to be devoured.
Her story is so much like my own in many aspects, especially the surprising health issues surfacing due to stress. Listening to her story as she talks about picking up and moving forward even in her hardest of times has given me extra motivation in my own work.

This was an enjoyable listen with many reminders for me: to check myself on my current path, listen to my body and take action on what could be the root cause of issues, and to keep pushing forward with my dreams.

I really enjoyed hearing it from her own voice, and can’t wait for the next one!

Keep preserving, girl!

This book is relatable to anyone that’s ever tried to do something (from the heart) with pure intentions and it’s been smeared by the complete jealousy and green envy of those that feel inferior. McKenzie gives the hope and encouragement of genuine “warrior” in this memoir of her journey in an industry of wolves dressed is sheep’s clothing. I hope people gain some perspective and find that fire to keep moving forward. Keep getting better. Betting on yourself is never a bad bet, and if it is then the loss is on you alone.
100% recommend!
