All her life, a young girl was told she was pretty, which seemed like a good thing, but the warnings that came along with it when she was around other family members, even those her own age, made that pretty little girl feel unprotected. The warnings also sparked curiosities that sent that little girl on a rollercoaster of a life that has included teenage pregnancy and going to college a year early, successful grades and a diagnosis for her young son that could have changed everything, mental and emotional issues that caused her to struggle and a will to win that helped her to keep climbing higher.
That little girl became a young woman who discovered that her capacity for tenacity would take her places she couldn't imagine and get her out of things that tried to bury her under emotional mental health issues that almost took her out. She's been through so much but she made it out and this book is the journey of a woman, born on the "wrong side of the tracks," who should have been satisfied being a mother and a wife. But when life gave her lemons, she gave life a doctor. This is the story of Dr. Latasha McIlwaine, a mother, a daughter, a clinician, a therapist and woman who would not give up!
