Publisher's summary

Do you want to go from hoarder to order?

Then stop accumulating stuff and declutter your home!

Understand Hoarding and compulsive hoarding, and see how you can overcome it.

People always have had trouble throwing things away. Magazines, newspapers, old clothes.... They think what if I need them one day? I don't want to risk throwing something out that might be valuable or appreciate with time. And those large piles of stuff keep growing, so it's difficult to move around, and there is no end in sight.

This is why you need to consider decluttering and stop hoarding, saving, and collecting things..

Commonly hoarded items that need to be discarded may be newspapers, magazines, paper and plastic bags, cardboard boxes, photographs, household supplies, food, and clothing.

Your friends have advised you to clear out that closet for years, and family has offered to help you throw away pots and pans that are no longer used in the kitchen. It seems that every time you make up your mind to declutter other thoughts arise that prevent you from clearing out the house. "What if I need these items in the future," you wonder. "I'd hate to be forced to buy the same product down the road because I disposed of it today." Your excuses and constant procrastination are more than simply a matter of putting off the inevitable. Less of a help than it was a definition

Basically it defines the term Horder and gives real life examples. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Very boring middle, but good start and end

a quite a concise book, maybe just 1 case study was enough in the middle. had to really concentrate to not lose interests in the middle.

Stories and reasons for hoarding

This book was supposed to help one stop hoarding and organize. It did not do that.

A Giant Waste of Time

So if I could give a negative stare on performance I would. This was painful to listen to… The author starts from the very limited view point that anyone who has a few keep sakes around is only days away from finding themselves on Extreme Hoarders. Then the only advice they give is throw out stuff because pretty soon you’ll be dying under the rotting corpses of hundreds of dead cats …

Don't BOTHER! NOT USEFUL!

waste of time and storage space both virtual and actual. LOL. Recounting names and dates of hoarders and the consequences does not a solution make.

Hoarding

Base honest help! No long explanations. Great examples of who have been hoarders and facts that brought a true determination to understanding hoarders.

Misleading title

There was no help on how to get your life in order it was simply a 30 minute lecture on all the reasons why you live like that and I the history of being a hoarder.

Wish I had read the reviews before ordering

My experience is echoed in the other reviews.
The only thing I would add is that I was shocked after purchasing to realise it was only a 1/2 hour ‘book’.

very personable. loved it

I've read a boat load of hoarding books and articles. Many are very clinical and report like. This book speaks to hoarders. Michele's writing style tells hoarders who may be in denial that they are indeed hoarders. It has practical solutions and prevention.
