Editorial reviews

Garth Brooks is a superstar of country rock. This audio interview finds Garth in Germany, in the midst of an international tour putting him in the unique position of an ambassador of this extremely American genre. Garth answers questions in a frank and heartfelt manner about a number of topics including being genuine in music, his career and creative process, his personal life, and thoughts on the world. He comes off as a thoughtful, well-spoken positive force who is relatively humble for one of the most internationally recognized voices in country.

Alright but Dated Material

This short listen is okay, but rather dated since Garth was still married to Sandy Mahl. They divorced in 2001, and he married Trisha Yearwood in 2005. In the recording the interviewer is difficult to hear, although Garth can easily be understood. For diehard Garth Brooks fans, this may be interesting, but for those of us looking to learn more about the man and his music, it falls a little short.

Good, But Old Material

Apparently, this was an approximate (just short of 25 minute) recorded interview with Brooks, after he had finished a concert from abroad, while he was STILL married to Sandy Mahl. They had small children, and he frequently mentioned both Sandy and his children in the interview. Brooks divorced Mahl in 2001, and remarried in 2005, so that gives you an idea of how old this interview is.

Nevertheless, the humility, care, compassion, and fellow feeling of this man, for his family, friends and fans, are apparent through the questions he answers by those conducting the interview. The tone of his answers are honest and respectful. I was a fan of him back then; still a fan of him now.
