Publisher's summary

Taniel Two-Shot is a powder mage with the Tristan Ghost Irregulars, a band of volunteers who have made a name for themselves fighting in the Fatrastan Revolution. They range through the swamps of the frontier, cutting off enemy supplies and raiding towns while Taniel hunts the Privileged sorcerers that make the Kez armies so powerful.

When a desperate call for help comes from the nearby city of Planth, the Irregulars aren't the only ones to answer and Taniel must deal with another hero of the revolution: Mad Colonel Styke. But not all is well within the young Fatrastan government, and more hangs on the defense of Planth than Taniel and his companions could possibly know.

Best Short Story Performance

These shorter novellas are well written, but they have had notably lackluster narrators. I'm glad this does not seem to be the case here. The story is well read and extremely well written. I'm glad to see these stories finally getting a narrator worthy of them.

All about the narrator

No offense to the talent of the narrator but these stories need a male baritone or bass vocal pairing. Mad Ben Styke speaking in alto just doesn’t work.

Another good novella from McClellan

I always enjoy McClellan's writing. Good stories, engaging characters, good pacing.

Not as big of a fan of this reader. Amongst my varied minor complaints I could iterate, the biggest annoyance was the pronunciation of Ka Poel. Readers need to have the author tell them how to say the names of main characters and important secondary characters. McClellan's other reader has a different pronunciation and has read a significantly larger portion of the series. His pronunciation of the character's names should've been provided to this reader prior to recording.

Hell Yeah.

Carpola really? I love the story performance was good but I hate when they pronounce their names differently.

Great story! Disappointing presentation...

Ghosts of the Tristan Basin is precisely what you might expect from Brian Mcclellan novella. A very exciting, very compelling story that is somewhat difficult to put down. However I felt the story could have focused on the Ghost more, and I wish Christain Rodska had narated the peice instead of Julie Hoverson. Not that I have any problem with Julie Hoverson's performance, but I thought that the narator from the main series could have brought an exponentially stronger one.
