Publisher's summary

Langley Vaughn is in desperate need of a date. But not just any date. She's looking for a date to the wedding from hell. It isn't every day you're forced to be in the bridal party while your first love marries your archnemesis...otherwise known as the world's worst stepsister. The entire situation is a nightmare, and Langley is sick and tired of taking orders and forcing a fake smile. She needs to find a date who's not afraid of her family's money...someone willing to shake things up. Someone ready to go to war with the well-to-do. She needs someone who won't back down.

Iker Alvarez would do anything and everything to get his hands on some quick cash. Thank goodness for a desperate, pretty little rich girl with too much money and her heart set on an outrageous scheme. Being in the right place at the right time might just be the answer to both of their prayers - and this smart soldier has never let a golden opportunity slide by. Only, he didn't plan on liking the blonde socialite as much as he does. He is totally unprepared for the pull he feels toward her, coupled with his growing desire to protect her from the vultures and villains living under the same roof. He knows he isn't the guy Langley can count on in the long run, but damn, if he doesn't want to do everything in his power to be that man.

Contains mature themes.

Really good

It kept my attention throughout the book. Narration was great. Good story line and spice. I do wish they would have added both books together. The books are short enough to be one book. Left on a cliffhanger.

In Luv-Wrong Time

Enjoyed this book. Hate that it is a 2 part story though. Feel like it could have been a little longer in order to get the ending. Langley has a lot of misfortune when it comes to love and the wicked step mom and sister. Believe she has let most of it happen due to not stepping up for herself instead of always keeping the peace. Iker changes tghat perspective for her and helps make her realize she is worth and can do more.

Cute Story, Female Narrator Robotic

I enjoyed the characters, and the story, even if the authors include some mild woke propaganda in the story. Specifically, there's definitely a theme of white privilege and reparations. I wish they'd just leave that junk out and tell the story. The only other major detraction from the story was the female narrator. She was horribly robotic. Male narrator was great.

Spoiler alert. This is book one of 2

Because of the ending, you have to buy the second. The endings in real life often suck but I buy the books. I don’t really want them to end like this one. I’m promised that the next one ends well. Guess I’ll find out.

Ohhhhhh my gawd WOOOWWWW!!!

I swear I was literally finger on the Cancel Audible button after hitting dud after dud after lame, boring, trope, ridiculous, dud… and thennnnn THISSSSS came along! Like Manna from the Gods it hit me in absolutely every single one of the feels! I mean daaaaaammnn!!

Just finished, so a bit overwhelmed and incoherent but that’s more likely the shock and feeling of vindication that seeeeee(??) it’s NOT impossible to find intelligently written books; about actually nuanced characters; with very realistic and relatable layers; and true depth - even and especially in regards to the female lead!

Seriously, why does every hack wanna be author feel compelled to reductively malign, their female leads? To make them whiny, simple minded, morally weak and constantly prone to making clearly feeble minded decisions? Simply to contrive opportunities from which to escape, or worse, be rescued? I think yes. And I am over it!! & refuse to suffer listening through books pedaling that tired outdated mentality.

And so imagine my complete shock and utter delight at finally finding a book which checks every single one of my (admittedly high standards) boxes!
Original characters✔️
Hot sex✔️
Asshole family members we can all relate to; finally put in their place when tooooootally smoked with dry, on point, cutting wit, with complete finesse by main characters✔️
A brilliantly OG storyline which does NOT follow eye rollingly predictable asleep at the keyboard trope direction but instead make far more realistic and utterly BRAVE moves that make those of us with half a brain want to stand up and cheer✔️✔️and double✔️✔️!!!

Finding that such a rare anomaly as this actually exists is completely 🤯. Truly, there either ARE very few actually talented authors out there; or Audible is forcing those of us already paying their hefty subscription & therefore shouldn’t ALSO have to hemorrhage cash willy nilly on books INDIVIDUALLY and in ADDITION to said subscription! Hard to say when we’re left to grope blindly about in the dark, trying to find the rare few gems such as this, NOT hidden behind greedy pay-walling tactics along with 99% of their catalogue!

Suffice it to say: THIS Girl’s in Luv with THIS book! Now to binge the next one!! ❤️‍🔥

MUST READ

I started this book with no knowledge of what it contained and I regret NOTHING! As soon as I’m done typing this I’m running to go buy the second book! The ending was kismet and I loved every word.

Luv’d the Story

I feel in love with Langley and Iker. Was cheering them on from the start.
Of course her stepmother and sister were perfectly despicable.
I did not care for the female narrator, sort of monotone and lost me a bit when she tried to represent a male character.
Other that that it was an enjoyable book.
