The greatest gift given to the world in the past century was the US Navy and its facilitation of global trade through quashing lesser navies, combating pirating, and keeping shipping lanes open. The world has seen tremendous growth economically, and at any given time, there are 50,000 to 60,000 large container ships out at sea. This has been made possible by naval vessels globally, and it's something that is not appreciated by people who enjoy lower prices as a result of competition and the ability to receive goods from around the world locally at physical stores or online. Globalization has never been better, but the world has forgotten that this comes at a price. The world's two largest navies are owned by China and Russia, and although many ships in their fleets are new, the vast majority are outdated and can't adequately protect cargo ships that are importing and exporting goods that benefit the people of their countries, their ideologies, wars, etc... For the most part, the world's oceans have remained pirate-free as a result of the US Navy and the American taxpayers, which has had some benefit to the US but has been a huge convenience for many nations that are not allies of the US. Capitalism comes at a cost, and if China wants to create the largest trading bloc in the world, i.e., The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, and if Russia wants to continue to export its oil, let them man the shipping lanes and deal with the potential pitfalls of navigating the Malacca Strait, Gulf of Aden, and the African Continent. The US can ensure the shipping lanes to and from North America in combination with our trading partners, and other countries can deal with their own problems as it's not our responsibility and our assistance has gone unappreciated for too long. Sell your oil in dollars, and buy our treasuries. Alternatively, we will sell and deliver our tech, medicine, and aid if it suits our country and allies!
