About this listen

The Lovelorn Killer murdered seven women, ritually binding them and leaving them for dead before penning them gruesome love letters in the local papers. Then he disappeared, and after 20 years with no trace of him, many believe that he's gone for good. Not Grace Harper.

A grocery store manager by day, at night Grace uses her snooping skills as part of an amateur sleuth group. She believes the Lovelorn Killer is still living in the same neighborhoods that he hunted in, and if she can figure out how he selected his victims, she will have the key to his identity.

Detective Annalisa Vega lost someone she loved to the killer. Now she's at a murder scene with the worst kind of déjà vu: Grace Harper lies bound and dead on the floor, surrounded by clues to the biggest murder case that Chicago homicide never solved. Annalisa has the chance to make it right and to heal her family, but first, she has to figure out what Grace knew - how to see a killer who may be standing right in front of you. This means tracing his steps back to her childhood, peering into dark corners she hadn't acknowledged before, and learning that, despite everything the killer took, she has still so much more to lose.

Great book, give the narrator time to relax.

Great who dunnit. I’m into strong women protagonists. The narrator was a little off-putting at first, drawing words out at the end like she’s bored, but the book is great and the narrator seems to relax as the story goes on. I’m reading this book for the second time and hardly notice what bothered me the first time.

Unexpected story line that really kept me guessing all the way to the very last word.

Not what I expected

I normally don’t listen to this type of book but I’m pretty sure someone recommended it and I am glad they did. The book had a lot of twists and turns that I am glad I didn’t see them coming. It ended with what I think there can be a continuation of the main characters story.

story okay

I like the story for the most part, however the narrator's voice was really irritating.

I need her to stop whining 🙄

To much silly romance! I dislike the main character to the point of distraction! I do wonder how it will end but not enough to muck through the whining!

Waste of my time.

**SPOILERS**
I love crime books, especially with woman detectives. This books has good reviews so I was excited to dig right in.

The story just didn't do it for me. The main character, Annalisa isn't likeable to me. The back and forth between her and another charter's point of view was also a bore. Tbh Grace seems like a more likable character than her.

Even finding the killer was not that exciting, but when I saw after that I still had an hour left on the book, I should have known I would be disappointed. I thought what could possibly be missing?

I would not consider myself an ending person. But this book was the worst and pointless ending EVER! Annalisa destroys her whole family and her future love for nothing.

With no regard for her mother's feelings, her dad's well-being, her brother's wife and daughters, and even the guy she is pining for the entire book, she "tells the truth". A truth that brings nothing but pain to everyone. It was pointless. She is selfish. She did it only for herself and she evens says so.

What a waste of my time.

Narrator is atrocious

I honestly can’t review the book itself. Couldn’t finish it because the narrator was so annoying. The Whiny drawing out the last word of every sentence drove me crazy! I Suffered through about half of it and couldn’t listen to anymore.
