Publisher's summary

The #1 bestselling phenomenon continues in the eighth Stephanie Plum novel. The stakes get higher, the crimes get nastier, the chases get faster, and the men get hotter.

This time Stephanie, Morelli, Ranger. Lula, Valerie, and Grandma Mazur are strapped in for the ride of their lives. Stephanie is hired to find a missing child. But things aren't always as they seem and Stephanie must determine if she's working for the right side of the law. Plus, there's the Morelli question: can a Jersey girl keep her head on straight when more than just bullets are aimed for her heart? And with the Plum and Morelli relationship looking rocky, is it time for Ranger to move in for the kill? Janet Evanovich's latest thriller proves that Hard Eight will never be enough.

Delightful, hilarious

If you could sum up Hard Eight in three words, what would they be?

Of this series this has been my favorite. You would think the main character Shelia Plum would learn from her mistakes, and she tries, and tries but doesn't. She is the most unlikely bounty hunter that even the bad guys seem to take turns at baiting her. I laughed so hard I cried, her personality is like a mix of sweet fruit and baked beans and somehow it works.

Better Story than Seven Up!

Would you consider the audio edition of Hard Eight to be better than the print version?

Yes. I love to listen to Lorelei King narrate. She is so much fun and brings all the characters to life!!

Who was your favorite character and why?

I love Grandma Mazor and Lula and the mother of Stephanie Plum! They all three just crack me up!! ... and of course Stephanie!! :D

Have you listened to any of Lorelei King’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Yes! I listened to Seven Up with her narration and it was just as awesome as this one... actually I think this one is a little better!!!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Lost and Found

"Hard"

What did you love best about Hard Eight?

I think that Stephanie finally was intimate with Ranger. In other books, I always wished for she and Ranger to get really hot and steamy!

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Typical Stephanie Plum ending, she wins in the end after all of her bumbling disasters and mishaps.

Have you listened to any of Lorelei King’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I am definitely a Stephanie Plum (Lorelei King) fan so far. I have read listened to several of her books now and I love them. I don't like the narration of Critt but I love King. This time she made Ranger sounded more Spanish than I have heard in other books; which was ok. But I like the macho-Ranger!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Annie's grandmother fear of losing her home to the bad guys.

Any additional comments?

I am a big Stephanie Plum fan and have ejoyed several of her audios read by King. This was good but not great! Too much blunders and weaknesses by Stephanie. I like the spunky Stephanie. Will continue with her books, love her~~~

These books just keep getting better.

The narrator has a jersey accent and can tell the story better then the rest. It's very satisfying.

Hard Eight

I got a little nervous with the audio, was concerned Abruzzi was going to kill Stephanie. Fortunately, Valerie saved her. I think Abruzzi is crazy. Fortunately, for Stephanie, Ranger killed him and left a little note saying he was depressed. Great plot. Loved it.

LOVE the earlier books in this series

I used to read this series fanatically and although yhe latest offerings aren't near as good as the oldies I still have to see what the gangs up to. this is one of my absolute favorites! the fear factors way up but its really funny too. I wanted to get all of the originals but stopped going back when I hit 6 because of the god awful narrarator. lorelei king is so good that anyone woul d be hard pressed to compete with her but this debi mazur person is suicide inducing eardrum gauging do the world a favor and learn sign language ROTTEN!! I would be thrilled if janet would have ms king record versions of the earlier books!

Narrator improves

The narrator surprised me by the end of the book and is improving. The voice inflection as well as reading the as a story and not a essay was a pleasure!!
