Students are found as though turned to stone... Dobby's sinister predictions seem to be coming true.

Great Book

Such great writing. These books are as good as I remember them being when I read them to my young children 20ish years ago.

A treat to hear a new narration

I love the Jim Dale versions of the Harry Potter books but hearing Stephen Fry’s version is such a treat. He does an amazing job and hearing a new narrator makes the stories feel new again. Delightful.

Stephen Fry narrating Harry Potter is phenomenal!

I love getting to hear Fry narrate this story without having to use some overseas app or some other complicated setup to do it. He characterizes everyone so thoroughly that I can visualize the story clearly. I’m so glad Audible now has these available for those of us in the U.S. I couldn’t recommend this version more. Thanks, Audible!

JK Rowling is a Wizard of Writers!

Again, I have listened to the audiobooks of the entire Harry Potter series for many years now. I am in the United States and therefore have listened to Jim Dale’s readings, And he, too, is a Wizard of a Story Teller. This particular reading of The Chamber of Secrets, Book 2 in the Harry Potter series, was read by Steven Fry. I enjoy reading any given particular classic novel and listening to different narrators present the material in their own renditions. I especially wanted to listen to this version read by Stephen Fry because it is delivered with a British audience in mind; thus, the expressions are uniquely British. However, the trade-off, is that Stephen Fry is not the talented narrator that Jim Dale is. Mr. Fry does not have the ability to develop the different characters with different voices, and pretty much all of the emotional composites of the different characters, have the same, shrill expressions instead of varying, emotive expressions. This distracts greatly from the performance of the narration. But the excellent storyline, the complex plots and characters are well developed in the very talented writing, which compensates greatly for the less stellar performance. I shall now move onto to book 3, The Prisoner of Azkaban, with exciting anticipation.

Outstanding!

The narration of Stephen Fry is one of a kind. You top that off with a truly wonderful story and it makes for a remarkable experience.

Best Narrator Ever

I read the Harry Potter books to my children as they were growing up. We waited for the books to come out one at a time. By the time they were teens I had to buy multiple copies to keep my son, daughter, and myself from fighting to see who could read the book first. I have since reread the books several times, but since the first time I have never enjoyed them any more than when listening to Stephen Fry's amazing narrations. He is the best narrator by far.

stephen fry! he’s so enthusiastic and entertaining

while at first i was a little bummed that stephen fry doesn’t do the individual voices differently like jim dale but honestly he’s so enthusiastic is the way he tells the story that i stopped caring. ive read the harry potter series 4 complete times through and he really kept my interest more than jim dale did. i can never get annoyed with his voice but with jim i wanted to stop listening because of the way he portrays hermonie’s voice to be very annoying. “harrrrryyyyyyyyyyy”

Same story, different take

Stephen Fry does a great job and I really have enjoyed listening to the story from his point of narration. I have enjoyed all the Harry Potter books since they were first released and the films did not disappoint. However, the books can include so much more detail. So grateful that the Stephen Fry narrated versions have been released in the US. I will continue to go through the series with Stephen as my guide.
