Story
Fourteen people are trapped on Skek, a barren island in the middle of the North Sea somewhere between the coasts of the UK and Denmark. Over the years this place has served many purposes - a fishing settlement, a military outpost, a scientific base - but one by one its inhabitants have abandoned its inhospitable shores. Today it's home to Hazleton Adventure Experiences, an extreme sports company specializing in corporate team building events. Life there is fragile and tough. One slip is all it takes.

Story
Two months ago, billions of people were killed by a deadly germ. Days later, they rose again in massive numbers. Since then, cities worldwide have become corpse-filled, rat-infested, germ-choked hellholes. A group of people are trapped in central London, hopelessly outnumbered by the dead. They hear rumors of a safe haven in the north—a self-sufficient community where people from across the country have gathered to try and rebuild their lives. But the decaying ruins of the capital are vast and sprawling, and they’re going to need an army to get away from this place.

Story
It’s taken Matthew Dunne almost three months to get home. Never more than a few meters from the Haters at any time, every single step has been fraught with danger. But he’s made it. During his time in the wilderness, Matt developed a skill that is in high demand: the ability to anticipate and predict Hater behavior. It’s these skills that will thrust him into a web of subterfuge and danger. As the pressure mounts inside the camp, he finds himself under scrutiny from all sides. He’s always done his best to avoid trouble, but sometimes it can’t be helped.

Critic reviews
"Originally self-published, Moody's nail-biter of a debut plausibly creates a nightmare world....this intelligent, well-written chiller heralds a significant new talent." ( Publishers Weekly)
"It's a risky undertaking, giving literary form to a type of story that is traditionally told in pictures, but Moody completely pulls it off." ( Booklist)

Story
When out-of-shape IT technician Roen wakes up and starts hearing voices in his head, he naturally assumes he’s losing it. He isn’t. As of last night, he has a passenger in his brain - an ancient alien life-form called Tao, whose race crash-landed on Earth before the first fish crawled out of the oceans. Over the millennia his people have trained human heroes to be great leaders, to advance our species at a rate far beyond what it would have achieved on its own. Split into two opposing factions - the peace-loving, but under-represented Prophus, and the savage, powerful Genjix - the aliens have been in a state of civil war for centuries.

Crease is known in Weaver as ‘the bug guy’, the man who takes care of insects and other critters. But what emerges from the shadows of the town’s waste plant is beyond anything found in nature. Fist-sized cockroaches. Bird-sized wasps. Spiders, millipedes, ticks, all swollen to enormous bulk with vicious appetites to match. And other things, creatures that should never exist. The Barbarossa family’s roots are far more ancient and ethereal, but they are bound to the Gearys by a shared history of murder, insanity, and adultery. When Rachel Geary and Galilee, the seductive prince of the Barbarossa clan, fall in love, they unleash powerful enmities that could destroy both dynasties. Shorter and more conventional than some of Barker’s other work, this novel is especially rich with complex, passionate, three-dimensional characters, lush settings, and elegant language.

Hated It
First off, listening to the protagonist's thoughts and observations in real time is grating as hell, especially the way Gerard Doyle's whiny voice speaks them. (This book may stop me from reading Val McDermid's Tony Tony hill books, which Doyle also reads.). The character is unsympathetic, and I was really hoping he'd die at the end, which is the only reason I finished this book. I loathe the story concept, too--normal people suddenly turning into human monsters consumed by, at first, fear for their own safety from random strangers and acquaintances, then into people filled with hate. No explanation, although I noted that there are 2 more books in this first series that MAY explain the phenomenon but I don't care enough to find out. Moody seems to be setting up this minority percentage of the population as the real heroes, despite the fact that the Haters are the aggressors.

Worse book I've gotten!
This has got to be the poorest written book and poorest performed book that I've ever gotten from Audible. I can not understand how it even got printed to begin with.
The story line is weak at best the narrator does such a poor job of reading it that I truly did waste my money.
This is the first book out of all the ones I've gotten that I am saying this, usually I give the benefit of the doubt but not on this one.
Best thing, don't buy it, shoot I wouldn't even take it as a free download.

Horrible
I listen to a lot of audiobooks and must say this is by far the all time worst yet.
The story develops so slowly. I was thinking the pace would pick up when the story got interesting.
It never did pick up the pace or get interesting.
There is this long build up to nothing. It is like the author had to finish the story for a deadline because it just ends telling you little to nothing.
There are a lot of other audiobooks out there to pick that are real thrillers. This book literally put me to sleep at times.

Worst book ever!!
Wow, I kept waiting for one, TINY shred of dialogue that would make me like the main character. Nothing. The book takes a turn halfway through, and goes from boring to just plain violent nonsense. I’ve never wanted a main character to end up on the losing side as much as I did this one. Don’t waste your money!!

Ok, you got me.
After reading a few of the other reviews on here, to just "stick with it", and to "not give up", I REALLY should have known better. Honestly, I gave this book about an hour and a half of my time, which turned out to be an hour and a half too much. This main character is so unlikeable, and so depressing, that I thought I needed an anti-depressant and a beer after listening to this! Do yourself a favor, DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID! This book is boring, unoriginal, and just plain ANNOYING! I guarantee you that you will NEVER find a main character that you CARE LESS ABOUT in any book, EVER! Thank you for WASTING one of my credits!!

Pass The Skittles...Let’s Sneak Into The Next Theatre
Slow and boring. Moody should have combined the books in this series and he might have had a great story. Instead, he wrote a book with little character development and a pace as slow as molasses. I should have figured since this has been his mo forever. Too bad, because this book did have some good, if not original, ideas. The narration couldn’t rise above the material.
