Publisher's summary

The Titanic meets the delicious horror of Ransom Riggs and the sass of Mean Girls in this follow-up to the number one New York Times best seller How to Hang a Witch, in which a contemporary teen finds herself a passenger on the famous "ship of dreams" - a story made all the more fascinating because the author's own relatives survived the doomed voyage.

Samantha Mather knew her family's connection to the infamous Salem Witch Trials might pose obstacles to an active social life. But having survived one curse, she never thought she'd find herself at the center of a new one.

This time, Sam is having recurring dreams about the Titanic...where she's been walking the deck with first-class passengers, like her aunt and uncle. Meanwhile, in Sam's waking life, strange missives from the Titanic have been finding their way to her, along with haunting visions of people who went down with the ship.

Ultimately, Sam and the Descendants, along with some help from heartthrob Elijah, must unravel who is behind the spell that is drawing her ever further into the dream ship...and closer to sharing the same grim fate as its ghostly passengers.

Book 2 was still fun!

I really liked the first book and the second one is well done. The narrator did a good job but I don’t like when they switch narrators between series. That was the main thing I didn’t like. The mystery was great!

Not as good as the first, Not my favorite Narrator

I enjoy most Titanic themed stories, they can always have some nice tale to it, this one is no exception. I am a bit put off by some of the character in this one and why things were done as they were... Also, I wasn't as big a fan of the change in Narrator. I have no doubts that Tara Sands is amazing, just this time it fell very flat in the variety of voices.
If there is a third book I will still buy it and listen.

I love love love this series

I can’t even explain. I seriously just searched for information on a third book but nothing yet. If you loved the first one you’ll love this one. Very much something you’ll get sucked into.

I Finally Made It Through...

...and I'm glad I did.

I loved How to Hang a Witch. I was SO excited to be able to listen to Haunting the Deep, but I was thoroughly disappointed with the change of the narrator. When I listened to HtHaW and HtD back to back, I didn't like it. I had to listen to HtD a few months after HtHaW so the narration was seemingly new to me. Listening to it that way, as if it were its own story and not a continuation made it so much better.

As for the story of HtD, I didn't like it as much as I liked HtHaW, but it wasn't bad. It's not a book that I will listen to over and over- maybe just every once in a while. I hope there will be a third installment though.

Modern, Yet Historic

This book was very emotional with a lot of history, yet socially relevant. It was a great mix of modern and historic elements, and I enjoyed it very much. It was a great sequel to How To Hang A Witch, and as with the first book, I enjoyed all the little references to real Salem locations - most notably, the Friendship. Also a great Spooktober read, if you’re looking for one!

A haunting and engaging narrative.

There's something magical about the Titanic, something that captures and horrifies the imagination, and this story does a good job of bringing it to light: the beautiful, the glamorous, the ugly, all in a fictional narrative. It's well worth a read.
