"Some (stories) are funny, some are scary, some are disturbing, some are sad. All are memorable, lingering in the mind like the evocative and unique aroma of movie-theater popcorn." (Christine Morgan, The Horror Fiction Review)
"... Hell Comes to Hollywood II ought to be required reading for anyone who has even an inkling of trying to make it in the City of Dreams." (Scott Urban, The Horror Zine)

What an awesome collection of stories!

What an awesome collection of stories! These are not your average tales. These are the horrors behind everything including demons, vampires, witches, children, movie theaters, and so many more!

There are 22 in this which is great but listening on audio to this many stories is tough. I was on a plane for the most part so I didn’t have the ability to take notes. So many stick out though! None for good reasons. These are all horrifyingly terrifying!

What I love about short stories, and particularly scary stories, is that you are not able to figure out what is going on before it happens. And a LOT of weird stuff happens in this. For the most part I was able to guess that most of these were not going to end well but not because I knew, but because they are so horrible! It is like when you’re watching a great 80’s slasher flick and you just can’t look away because it is so bloody and gruesome but perfect.

The audio was a little strange. The production was good but there are only two narrators. While they did a wonderful job hearing the same voices over and over for each story muddles the stories a little. I would get a particular character stuck in my head and realize that character was long gone! Other than that they did a fantastic job and the production was wonderful but I would have loved to hear this with a full production.

Absolutely wonderful bite sized horror. Will be loved by horror fans!

As with any anthology...

...it's a mixed bag in terms of stories. Each is by a different author. This sequel is not as good as the first book but since it's read by the same two narrators I just had to have it. They are a great team! Perfect for the dark horror-comedy genre. This book will definitely help the time pass quickly during workouts, roadtrips, etc. The John Palisano story was my favorite.

Great for a late night road trip with friends!

Overall I very much enjoyed this audiobook. My favorite stories that really lingered after listening was "Buried" that had me holding my breath, "This is a Recording" that unfolded in such a chilling way, "Dreams of Little Suicide" which had me falling in love with the main character ,"The Scottish Play" that both broke my heart and gave me chills, "Culling the Herd" which brought some great humor and "Mexican Clown Hands" which was really about partners and their bond. These stories were top notch and haunts you long after.

My main complaint is: I really feel like some of these stories that I mentioned should have opened this anthology, as some of the other stories really missed that mark for me big time and if it was not for the fantastic narration I would have returned the audiobook never knowing that great stories were hidden inside. If I could offer some constructive feedback, I wish they had been more selective in what went into this. There was a couple that I just cringe thinking about how they even got in there.

Now on to the narrators, they did an outstanding job, conveying a plethora of emotions through some of the strangest stories, which they made feel like it was happening all around me. They definitely added to the experience and enhanced it tenfold.

All in all it is worth it to just hear the stories I mentioned in my review.

Gore but not Fright

The stories withing this book are full Gore but are not exactly frightening. The narrator did a decent job but his voice is not made for horror. I received this book for free and this is my honest unbiased review.
