Wow

This book is fantastic. I have truly begun to love these characters, much like the cast of characters in the Wheel of Time series became beloved or the characters in Game of Thrones . I couldn't wait to see what Tyrion or Matrim would say next. What smart ass thing is Henry going to say to Walt, who is Vic going to cuss out next, and the fabulous Ruby. She always has a great quip, in your face but always a lady. (Vic could take some pointers.) Parts of this book are brutal. The pain feels real, like Walt was crawling through broken glass and Guidall's AMAZING narration just ground that feeling in a little harder. I actually started to cry and found myself saying, "God! Hasn't he been through enough!?! Leave him be for 5 seconds." Virgil's character is so wise, so loveable, so dangerous but Craig makes the dichotomy work making what would seem a disjointed, muddled character stand strong , tall and very cohesive . GET THESE BOOKS!!! You will not regret it.

Wow

This book kept me on the edge of my seat wanting to hear more and more. I could not put it down. The narrator makes you think you are there with the characters and his intonations makes the whole book come alive!
Go Walt Longmire

Another great installment!

Recently discovered this wonderful series. Great characters, page turning plot, and well written. Every book in the series is capable of standing on its own, but I recommend that you start at the beginning, The Cold Dish.

Couldn't put it down.

However, don't read unless you've read the prior books in the series, especially the first one. Non stop action from beginning to end.

Enjoyable with a plot

What does George Guidall bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Ii would enjoy this book in print, but listing the narrators voice encourages the suspense

WOW.............once again

I'd have rated this one higher than 5 stars if I could have, it was that good. Craig Johnson really out did himself with this story. He left all of Walt's staff and friends behind and had Walt going up a mountain by himself chasing the bad guys when he had every reason not to. But then, that's Walt Longmire and the more we get to know him the more we like and respect him. I'd say that Walt sure could retire after this adventure and no one could fault him. But, I know he doesn't retire as I'm on to "As the Crow Flies".

As usual a gripping story

In order to prolong the story the bad was made a super human. Walt as usual could not manage to kill someone when it mattered most. He was presented with an opportunity to kill the bad guy and he refused. This was particularly stupid since the guy was a homicidal maniac. The guy had hostages and could have decided to kill one of them at any moment. The other thing was Walt knew the area much better than the guy giving Walt a significant advantage. Plus Walt never seems to know who his friends are. Walt nearly does just before his friends find him. The friends should have found him a very long time ago.
Happy reading and listening.
