Disappointed . . .

Is there anything you would change about this book?

I have enjoyed reading all of Nora Roberts' books and this was a favorite but I was very disappointed in the narrator and the quality of the actual audio. In parts of the audio, you can actually hear background voices, as if there was another person recording an audio in the room next door. I much prefer the narrator of the J. D. Robb books, Susan Ericksen.

Seesaws

Ok but the story didn’t emotionally connect me. Not suspense nor the romance. Thank you

Great book

This was a great book and the narrator was wonderful. I am very picky when it comes to narrators and she was great. The book was so much in one mystery, family, love and friends. Would definitely recommend!

Voices were not the best

It would have helped the production if there had been multiple voice actors. This reader was an awesome narrator but her female voices were like 1950’s actresses and the male. Lives were not convincing. It detracted from the story.

Entertaining Story

The storyline was entertaining but the narration was bad! Male voices for some of the characters were high pitched and poorly executed.

Reliable Roberts!

It's another Nora Roberts' romance mixed with murder. Dora Conroy broke from the family business of acting to run a curio shop. She lives above her shop, and her father rents the second apartment over the shop to Jed Skimmerhorn, an ex-police captain who just wants to be alone. He comes from money but a miserable family, brawling parents and a sister who's as much a stranger and prisoner as he was. He witnesses her death in a car bombing, retribution for a case he's working on. He kills the killer and leaves the force. Dora obliviously buys some trinkets at an auction that turn out to be containers for smuggled treasures inside, and runs afoul of the criminal sent to retrieve them. Dora and Jeb also tumble into a relationship, but Jed's never learned to love or share, and he keeps her in the dark even on issues that could cost her life...
