Publisher's summary

As Christmas approaches and the snow falls deep, a malevolent force stalks the ancient corridors of Castle Kintochlochie. Someone, or something, is determined to derail Lady Ophelia's love affair with estate manager Hamish, so ruggedly handsome yet wildly unsuitable.

She must call upon her wits—not just to discover the culprit...but, perhaps, to escape murder.

Head to the Scottish Highlands for this enchanting 1920s romp, filled with comedy and romance, and a pause-resisting cozy mystery to solve.

Heat level: rather saucy!

Don't miss the prequel in this series, Highland Pursuits, and the final installment in the trilogy, Highland Wedding.

Book 2 of the trilogy - Danger among them

Mystery, intrigue, passion, distrust and a wedding to be had at the castle are amongst all of the goings on in this second book of the trilogy.
After book 1 and all the introductions, this story brings you back to all the strangeness at the castle.
Dangerous things keep happening around Ophelia.
Is she making more of the incidents than they really are?
Can she overcome the danger that is getting closer and closer to her?
Can Hamish protect her?
Ophelia and Hamishs’ story just keeps getting better better and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it and the narration.

Better....

This was more like what I've come to expect from Emmanuelle de Maupassant. The suspense of who was the ghost kept me engaged as well as Hamish and Ophelia's romance. But, once again, I'm unsure of Hamish. He keeps making me mad. Sigh. There is one more book for him to win me over completely.

Gareth Davies is a great narrator. He always transports me to the time and place the author has set. Excellent performance.

A mystery At Christmas

Great listen and wonderful work by the narrator. Book 2 had a mystery that kept me listening to the end. Unrequited love that lead to an unhappy ending and a stupid decision that nearly cost Hamish the love of his life. Anxious to listen to the final chapter in Ophelia and Hamish’s story.

Mysterious Happenings

I enjoyed book two of the "Bright Young Things" series even more than the first one as there was a cozy mystery that needed to be solved. This story took place in Ophelia's ancestral home of Castle Kintochlochie. There were several guests, several pets, and a mystery; all of which added to the story's entertainment. There were some amorous moments described. Gareth J Davies' narration was outstanding as his various voices brought the characters to life. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.
