Publisher's summary

The Phantoms are back with a vengeance and the City of Angels will never be the same.

JENSEN:

Chasing my pro hockey dreams in the City of Angels has been a relentless battle. Each season feels like starting over, and being miles away from my family only adds to the struggle. I don't know what I would do without my online gaming friends. Especially @EmpressHollywood.

I know nothing about her—not even her real name—but what I do know with certainty is that our chats are my lifeline. I wish she would let me in, but she guards her secrets even more closely than I do.

A chance encounter puts us in the same room together, and the attraction IRL is next level. But before I can make my play, she disappears. I'm desperate to find her again and my meddling, matchmaking mother shows up just in time to help. Can I convince her that I'll be there no matter what she's hiding? Or will we both get hit hard in this real life game of love?

Great story

Bailey is an actress; Jensen is a professional hockey player and in their spare time, they are gamers. They become friends through their computers but have never met. Due to an auto accident caused by her ex three years earlier, Bailey's acting career came to a halt and due to her injuries, she hardly goes out in public. Jensen and his mom happen to show up at a restaurant Bailey is at attending her best friend's daughter's birthday celebration. Putting the pieces together through conversations on the computer, Jensen realizes Bailey is his gamer friend. With a brief glance, there's instant attraction for both of them. When they finally meet in person, Jensen and Bailey decide to see where things go with their relationship but when a panic attacked sends Bailey into a downward spiral, is Jensen's love strong enough to pull her through. Will Bailey's insecurities keep them from having a HEA?

I enjoyed but felt Bailey's character was somewhat annoying throughout the story. Jensen's character was awesome. Great narration by Alex Knox and Tieran Wilder.

Strong hockey family bonds

This is a great prequel to this series although it is book three. The characters in the story have very strong family bonds. The development of the friends to lovers relationship between Jensen and Bailey was wonderful. Excellent narration from Alex Knox and Tieran Wilder. great story

I did enjoy this book although I found the the lead female a bit annoying. I get her reasoning for being the way she is but my God it was a bit much. As someone who has lived their whole life with a physical disability I found her going on and going about her limitations irrating. Yes she was a movie star and yes the press says so much that isn't true but she could have set some of the rumors and untruths straight if she would just tell her side of things.
