About this listen

Narratives about decision making are often inadvertently tailored primarily to men. Meanwhile, narratives about women in business overlook decision making or offer advice that is unhelpful and can even backfire.

How Women Decide fills this gap. It takes on the very real psychological and cultural obstacles women face, asks how these affect decision making, and suggests practical changes for approaching important choices.

Using the latest research and her interviews with women in many fields, Huston breaks down the myths and facts around intuition, self-perception, risk assessment, and more. In this guide she persuasively argues that, contrary to popular opinion, women shouldn't feign inflated confidence indiscriminately.

Title not quite accurate

Basically several points about how society sees women, what women are thinking, differences between men and women and the biases women face

There are a few insightful parts but not worth 10 hours to get there

Frequently ignores biases and stereotypes applied to men or that they cause just as much a divergence from the gender averages as the stereotypes and biases applied to women cause them to move in the opposite divergence from gender averages

This could have been a much better book with far more valuable content but about halfway through it just breaks down into women are victims and they have to "sell" themselves differently when negotiating... no never mind that everyone faces the same challenge in different light. ex. How would a meal and timid 120 lbs man be treated while asking for a raise from his 6'6" cross fitting boss? .... then much of the 'advice' given is no different than general advice for being successful that youd find in any self help book

I was really hoping for a better insight than just women dont speak up as often because the world isnt perfectly even in how it treats men and women because of thousands of years of social and biological evolution .... no shit?
