Publisher's summary

Summoned to another world to slay the mighty beast . . . of governance! (And soon to be an anime!)

When Kazuya Souma is unexpectedly transported to another world, he knows the people expect a hero. But Souma's idea of heroism is more practical than most—he wants to rebuild the flagging economy of the new land he's found himself in! Betrothed to the princess and abruptly planted on the throne, this realist hero must gather talented people to help him get the country back on its feet—not through war, or adventure, but with administrative reform!

worth the credit.

a slow paced isekai slice of life that draws readers in, with references to some of the great works on power dynamics such as the prince, and the art of war. it's got a slow roll harem romance in the works, but i expect in line with most light novel romances it won't be explicit in the details in further books when the relationships advance. the cool headed analytical mc does this story well, as it lets him use the knoledge from the advanced civilization of earth well in his new home. i'm waiting for the next release, and hope the quality doesn't change.

Would benefit from 2 narrators

Story was enjoyable and the narrator was good. However, when he narrated female character dialogue. It was at best, slightly jarring and at worst, immersion breaking.

A good start

Overall a good story about economic and infrastructure reform.

There is a flaw in the narration. At points the story will switch perspective between paragraphs. A larger cast of voices or a second narrator would help. Both would be preferable.

The use of background sounds or music could help at points, but this is not that big of a production.

Some cultural elements like polygamy and slavery are mentioned in the story.

Overall better than most, but there are a few better in production quality. The Story is almost its own category of light novel. It avoids man pit falls of the Modern Isakie.

Really enjoyable Isekai, 100% recommend

The story is great (and will continue to be good - I have read the all LNs already).
The narrator is also good, though maybe a slightly too mature voice for the MC. Even still, I have enjoyed his performance even of the female characters...
Heartily recommend to anyone who loves Isekai and harem stories.

A realistic approach

So I've watched the anime, which is where I'm coming from. Unlike a lot of other light novels turned into audiobooks, they take a realist approach. this is not a bad thing as it fits with the type of story. it just means don't expect any of the voice cast from the show to be reading it. They know that it's probably not going to be bought that much, so they got a very good narrator to provide the story. If you're Expecting The Voice cast from the show, temper your expectations. although I highly recommend checking out the anime, the light novel is very good as well it covers a chunk of the first season of the anime that was adapted from these. would highly recommend reading if you enjoyed the anime and want to see what was added or taken away from it.

I definitely can't wait for the next novel as it's still quite enjoyable and worth the listen.

Surprisingly good

I found myself surprised at how interesting and good the story and characters are despite my initial reaction to the sample.
